Chris Davis - Halton's Senior Hawks Girls Rugby team finished third in their league pool and seventh at provincials this season.  Their last home game was also the quarter final game, held at Sproule Field n nearly perfect weather against Cardston.  The Hawks won by a wide margin.  The Hawks went on the road to play the #1 team in the league , Taber's W.R. Meyers , in the semi-finals.  Taber blanked the Hawks in that game.  On June 9 and 10 the Hawks were in Black Diamond for provincials, due to some Tier 3 teams dropping out, where they finished 7th after two close losses and a win.

Hawks U18 soccer team back in first place following win against Sparwood

Josh Davis - On Thursday May 2 the U18 Hawks soccer team took to Sproule field in Pincher Creek, hosting their counterparts from Sparwood. The game was close in the first half, with the Hawks playing against the wind, and Sparwood scoring the first goal of the game. However, the Hawks got into gear in the second half, winning 4-2. With this victory the Hawks have regained their first place standing in the league, followed by Elkford then Sparwood.

Pincher's Hawks eye provincials after another big baseball win at home

Josh Davis - On Monday May 16 the Halton Hawks prep baseball team hosted the Highwood Mustangs at Sproule Field in Pincher Creek. The Hawks gained a four run lead in the second inning, and while the game remained tight they ultimately persevered, winning 7-4.

On Thursday October 1, 2015 the A level Jr girls Hawks hosted F.P. Walshe at Matthew Halton School for volleyball. F.P. Walshe has a tough team this season, and the Hawks’ numbers were depleted by injuries and absences. F.P. Walshe doubled them in number in attendance. The Hawks improved greatly throughout the game, but were defeated in three sets.

Westwinds Girls Volleyball – Flyers defeat Hawks

Pincher Creek's JV and SV Hawks hosted FP Walshe's Flyers on Wednesday September 16 at 6:00 for an evening of girls’ volleyball. The Flyers won both matches against the Hawks. The Hawks have four JV members, three grade eleven members, and two grade twelve members at the moment, and as a result the grade elevens played at both the JV and SV levels. This was the Hawks’ second game of the season. “We’re hoping to bring some of the grade nines up to JV as well,” said the Hawks' new coach Sarah Duncan.

Soggy end to 2015 Hawks Baseball season

Pincher Creek's High School Hawks finished their season by participating in the 2015 Southern Alberta High School Baseball Tier 2 Championships, held at Sproule Field in Pincher Creek and Hillcrest field last weekend.  It turned out to be a wet and somewhat flat end to what was an interesting season for the reborn Hawks team, with both of their games ending in wet disappointment.

It was a do or die situation for the Halton Hawks Sr. Girls Rugby team as they could have faced elimination in their first playoff game of the season. The Hawks faced off against the Cardston Cougars on Monday May 25th, ultimately winning a difficult battle 5-0.

The bats were busy at Fort Macleod on Thursday, and when the dust cleared the FP Walshe Flyers had a 21-11 win over the Matthew Halton Hawks in five innings.

Pincher Creek's Hawks hosted Magrath's Zeniths at Sproule Field on the evening of May 7.  The Zeniths earned a 13-1 victory, scoring 8 unanswered runs in the second inning. 

Day 1 of Halton Jr Girls Volleyball Showdown

Matthew Halton School is hosting their 2014 Junior High Girls Volleyball Tournament this weekend.  The tournament continues and concludes today, Saturday October 11, at the Matthew Halton School Gym.  Stay tuned for a more complete story when it's all over (update: click here for that story).  In the meantime, here's a peek at some of the action on Friday, October 10:

Matthew Halton School's Junior A (grades 8 and 9) Hawks Girls volleyball team hosted their Piikani counterparts on the evening of October 9.  Piikani's strongest set was the first one, which they won 25-23.  The Hawks were well ahead from the start in the second set, winning it 25-11.  The third set was tied several times during the first half, but the Hawks pulled ahead in the second half to win it 25-16.

Pincher Creek's Senior Hawks Girls Rugby team participated in the Alberta Schools Athletic Association (ASAA) 2014 Provincials, held in Calgary on June 6 and 7.  The Hawks won the Sportsmanship banner for Tier 1 Girls.  A fitting end to the season (and for some their High School rugby career) for this vibrant group of young ladies, generally known for their sportsmanship in all sports, including on the often less than polite rugby pitch.

Pincher Creek's Senior Varsity and Junior Varsity Hawks Girls squads hosted their Taber Rebels counterparts for a couple of feisty rugby games on the evening of May 8 at Sproule field.  Unusual for rugby in this town, the weather co-operated, with blue skies above, very little wind, and an almost dry field.

Junior B Boys Basketball - Hawks defeat Sabres

Matthew Halton's  Junior B Boys Hawks basketball team hosted Livingstone's Sabres on Tuesday, January 28.  It was a close game at the half with the score 8 - 9 for the Sabres.  The Hawks then pushed back hard scoring 11 points in the third quarter.  The game ended with the Hawks victorious by 27 - 19.
