Conservative Glen Motz elected in Medicine Hat - Cardston - Warner federal by-election

Chris Davis - Conservative Party of Canada candidate Glen Motz was elected last night, October 24, 2016 as the Member of Parliament for Medicine Hat - Cardston - Warner.  Motz, formerly a member of the Medicine Hat Police Service, won the by-election by a wide 69.9% margin. The seat was rendered vacant by the passing of Conservative MP Jim Hillyer, who died in his Ottawa office of cardiomyopathy on March 23 of this year. Liberal candidate Stan Sakamoto received 25.6% of the vote. The remaining four candidates received between 0.6% and 2% each of the votes cast.

Chris Davis - For their 2016/17 season opener Pincher Creek's Midget Huskies travelled to Nanton on Friday evening, October 14.  The game was apparently a barnburner, with Nanton scoring  3 unanswered goals in the first period, the Huskies scoring 5 unanswered goals in the second period, and Nanton scoring 3 more unanswered goals in the final period to win it 6-5.  The next day the Huskies held their home opener at the Memorial Community Centre Arena in Pincher Creek, hosting Warner.  The Huskies won that game by a definitive score of 6-1.
