RCMP Alberta - The Airdrie RCMP have assisted the Calgary Police Service (CPS) to intercept a vehicle involved in a carjacking in Calgary and arrest the suspects responsible just outside of Crossfield, AB.

RCMP Alberta - Over the past several days, numerous posts have been made on various social media Airdrie community groups detailing suspicious encounters with unknown people as well as “attempted abductions”. The Airdrie RCMP is very aware of the stories circulating on social media and is actively investigating each report that has been made to the RCMP.

Southern Alberta RCMP wildfires summary

RCMP Alberta - In the late afternoon and evening hours on October 17, several communities across southern Alberta were impacted by severe, fast moving wildfires which were driven by extremely high winds. RCMP officers conducted evacuations of 10 communities in 6 counties/municipal districts. Rural residences and farms in these counties were also evacuated in many areas. These evacuations were carried out by officers in eight different RCMP detachments working in partnership with local firefighters, peace officers and citizens.

At this time, a full assessment of the damages resulting from these fires has not yet been completed. “The events of yesterday are unprecedented. We have never had emergencies and evacuations affecting so many communities at once.” says RCMP Chief Superintendent Tony Hamori, Officer in Charge of Southern Alberta District. “ I am proud of the efforts of our RCMP officers and employees and I thank all of our community partners for their significant role in managing these fires.”

Airdrie RCMP request assistance to identify suspects using stolen credit cards

RCMP Alberta - Airdrie RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two (2) suspects involved in the use of stolen credit cards.  On August 21, 2017, a male and female driving a black Honda Pilot attended several stores within Calgary and made numerous purchases using stolen credit cards. The credit cards were stolen overnight from an unlocked vehicle parked along Thornbird Rise in Airdrie. The licence plate being used by the suspects driving the Honda Pilot was also stolen out of Airdrie.

Airdrie RCMP investigating theft of trailer and ATVs

RCMP Alberta - Airdrie RCMP are asking the public for information with regards to the theft of a utility trailer containing two (2) Arctic Cat ATV’s from Airdrie Spring Air on Kingsview Blvd. in Airdrie.  On September 5, 2017 at approximately 6:40 am, a lifted, black Ford ¾ ton or 1 ton truck was observed driving into the Airdrie Spring Air yard. The suspect then hooked onto a utility trailer containing two ATVs and drove off. Police are currently trying to locate the Ford truck, utility trailer, and 2 ATVs. The truck is believed to be stolen.

RCMP Alberta - On Saturday March 11, 2017, at 12:35 pm Airdrie RCMP responded to a complaint of a robbery at the CIBC Bank located at 40074 2789 Main street in Airdrie. A lone male entered the bank and as he approached the teller he pulled a balaclava over his face. He indicated to the teller that he had a firearm although none was produced. He obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the bank. It is unknown at this time if he fled on foot or in a vehicle. There were no other customers in the store at the time and the tellers did not sustain any physical injuries.

Airdrie Rural RCMP investigates road rage incident

RCMP Alberta - On Feb. 4th, 2017, at approximately 10:00 p.m., near Balzac, Alberta, on Highway 566 a road rage incident occurred where a suspect male pointed a firearm at another vehicle. As a family was driving on the highway they encountered a suspect vehicle who began taunting them by tailgating, varying speeds, and flashing their high beam lights. Eventually, both vehicles came to a stop, and a suspect male pointed what appeared to be a firearm. The victims left the scene immediately and contacted police.

Airdrie RCMP warn drivers of bad road conditions due to weather

RCMP Alberta – The snow and high winds have created hazardous driving conditions on the roads and highways in areas of southern Alberta and Airdrie RCMP are asking motorists to exercise caution when they are driving, or, if they can avoid doing so, not to be driving at all on the icy roadways.

Counterfeit currency increase in Airdrie

RCMP Alberta - Airdrie RCMP and GIS would like the public to be aware of an increase in the usage of counterfeit currency in the City of Airdrie. Specifically 50 and 100 dollar Canadian bills have been used, often targeting small businesses.
