Group Group Youth's photography program continues to inspire young talent. Here are some photos by Andrew Yellow Horn (age 11) and Damian Arnot (age 12) taken recently at Lundbreck Falls and the Pincher Creek.
Robert Costa says he encountered this double-decker bus three times today on the way home. His first encounter with it was at Pincher Station, where it was "heading west at 30 - 40 km/hr, respectfully driving on the shoulder." Costa said it was clearly an import from Britain, being a right-hand drive "and the right colour and flag."
"When I passed him I saw he had plants in the "upstairs" windows. Home Sweet Home and heading west into the wind. I can only imagine the upcoming passes in BC. Good grief!"

"Well it looks like a London Route master RM built '54 to '68 and fitted with a six cylinder diesel, it does however look to have the optional RMC rear power operated doors. These buses all had manual transmission but had a pre-selector gear box. You selected the gear you needed next and the change was done automatically when you operated the clutch pedal. They are very stable and have been tilt tested, although the film (below) shows the earlier RT model."

"The smoke had cleared somewhat and the white iris 'Immortality' greeted us with this beautiful bloom. We are prepared to leave but we really hope it does not come to that. Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village (KBPV) is located in downtown Pincher Creek. Many think the entrance building is the whole of the museum grounds but it is only the start. The village is contained on close to seven acres and hosts over 24,000 artifacts throughout 25 historical and museum buildings. One of the many highlights of the grounds are the several vegetable and flower gardens, fruit trees and other botanical delights. During the National Day of Mourning on April 28, it was a dreary damp day in Pincher Creek, yet still there was beauty and reflection to be found on the KBPV grounds.

Cowley area resident Gerry Smith took the above picture on October 29 east of Cowley on Highway 3. It's a reminder that it gets dark early and deer are plentiful, even more so in coulees, so be alert. According to the Alberta Ministry of Transportation the number of wildlife collisions in the province doubles in November, from an average of 1,100 each month to 2,280.
Smoke from fires in Montana filled the southern Alberta skies. On August 14 a forest fire ignited near Goat Haunt Montana, Glacier National Park, on the slopes of Campbell Mountain, on the west side of Upper Waterton Lake, prompting a short-term evacuation alert. As the month progressed and the number of hectares consumed by fire grew south and southwest of Pincher Creek, so did the amount of smoke and ash in the air. Health hazard alerts were issued by Alberta Health, particularly for the elderly and those with respiratory issues. The air tasted like ash, and our throats were parched.

What I did throughout the summer

This summer passed quite fast for me, to be honest but I still did manage to do some pretty fun activities. Many of my friends think that summer vacation is too short and there’s not enough time to do anything during summer vacation. I beg to differ. Here’s what I did this summer.
Hundreds attended the annual Pincher Creek Chuckwagon Cookout on June 6 at the Ag grounds in Pincher, which included good food, good company, and the musical stylings of Adam and Nicki Schoening.
I decided to take a little hike in a coulee in the east slopes of the porcupine hills (west of Granum AB). I was originally just going for a hike on my own, but when I spotted the view I could not resist taking a picture. The fog made for great pictures! Then when I got back I went for a little bareback ride on Moonshine, my horse.
