Grain truck loses encounter with a deer

Toni Lucas - At approximately 2:00 am Monday, August 21 a member of Livingstone Colony was driving a fully loaded grain truck on RR 15, a gravel road near the Cowley Glider Strip.  RCMP Cst. Wallace said the driver tried to avoid the deer, but as that area of the road has almost no shoulder and a very steep grade, once the wheels went past the road the driver lost control and ended up laying the vehicle on its side, dumping the grain.  The driver sustained on injuries.  The spilled grain has since been reclaimed.

Cochrane RCMP arrest 2 men on multiple charges, recover stolen Pincher Creek vehicle

Alberta  RCMP - RCMP in Cochrane have arrested Cole Mclean, the man earlier reported to be wanted in Vulcan, Okotoks and Turner Valley.  On Tuesday, January 31, Cochrane RCMP responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle at an oilfield lease site north of Cochrane. On arrival, they found Cole Mclean as well as 28-year-old Danielle Mckenna of Okotoks. The two were found to be in possession of a truck stolen from Pincher Creek as well as break-in instruments, controlled substances, stolen identification and other stolen property.

777 fentanyl pills seized by ALERT Lethbridge

Lethbridge ALERT - A total of 777 fentanyl pills were seized in Lethbridge the past week as the result of two separate investigations by ALERT. A loaded handgun was also seized from a known gang member.  ALERT’s Lethbridge organized crime and gang team made the seizures as part of an effort to limit the supply of fentanyl hitting city streets. ALERT is an integrated team consisting of Lethbridge Police Service and RCMP officers.

Two vehicle collision near Burmis weigh scale

Toni Lucas - Pincher Creek Emergency Services, Lundbreck Fire, Alberta Commercial Vehicle Inspection Services, and Crowsnest Pass RCMP responded to an collision a Highway 507 and Highway 3 close to the Burmis scales July 4, 3:43 pm. The collision was between a car containing two people and a truck with a sole occupant pulling a boat . All three people were assessed and released on scene. Traffic flow was quickly re-established. Non-criminal charges have been laid against an individual as a result of the RCMP investigation into the incident.

Fatal rollover near Cameron Lake, 5 passengers injured

On April 23, 2016 at approximately 9:00 p.m., Pincher Creek RCMP and Emergency Services responded to a serious motor vehicle rollover near Cameron Lake in Waterton National Park.  The pickup truck was travelling southbound on Cameron Lake road when it left the road and rolled down a embankment into a creek bed. The driver of the vehicle was ejected from the truck and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The five occupants managed to exit the vehicle and call for help. All five suffered non life threatening injuries

Three charged after Fort Macleod drugs and weapons bust (updated)

Three women and two men face numerous charges after a Search Warrant was executed on a residence in Fort Macleod, Alberta on April 22, 2016.

• 88 grams of powder Cocaine
• 65 grams of crack Cocaine
• 7 grams of Cannabis Marihuana

The total street value of the seized drugs is approximately $15,000.

Also seized were 2 rifles and 1 prohibited firearm, a machete and knife, as well as approximately $1000 in cash.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is pleased to share a sample of March highlights from its border crossings in southern Alberta:

On February 29, CBSA officers seized a prohibited .380-calibre pistol and 24 prohibited magazines from a traveller at the Coutts border crossing. Michael Bissonette, 47, of Georgia faces a total of 13 charges – eight under the Customs Act and five under the Criminal Code – and is scheduled to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court on April 20.

Derek Saretzky charged with first degree murder charge in death of Hanna Meketech

Today, the RCMP can confirm that 23 year-old Derek Saretzky of Blairmore, Alberta has been charged with the first degree murder of Hanna Meketech.

The body of Hanna Meketech was discovered in her Coleman, Alberta residence during the evening of Wednesday, September 9, 2015. That same day, the RCMP launched a homicide investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of the 69-year-old woman. On September 11, 2015 the Calgary Medical Examiner's Office determined Hanna Meketech's death was the result of a homicide.

Four face numerous charges after drug bust at Pincher Creek hotel room

On April 7, 2016 Pincher Creek RCMP executed a drug search warrant on a local hotel room in the town of Pincher Creek, Alberta.  Four Pincher Creek residents were arrested and face numerous charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  The suspected drugs seized include cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin, as well as numerous pills.

Child dies in single vehicle collision east of Lundbreck

Lundbreck, Alberta - On April 3rd, 2016 at approximately 8:25 pm, Crowsnest Pass RCMP, along with Lundbreck and Pincher Creek Emergency Services, responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 3A, approximately 3 kilometres east of Lundbreck, Alberta.

The driver and 5 other occupants of the 4 door sedan were travelling west on Highway 3A, when they lost control and drove over a small embankment.

An 8 year old passenger of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and remaining passengers of the vehicle were treated for minor injuries.

Alcohol is not a factor.

Crowsnest Pass RCMP and RCMP Collision Analyst Services continue to investigate the occurrence.

At 11:24 today, March 22, 2016,  Pincher Creek Emergency Services and Pincher Creek RCMP responded to a vehicle fire at the side of Highway 6 near Township Road 52, approximately 15 km south of Pincher Creek.  A pickup truck left the road and was fully engulfed. Two occupants of the vehicle were transported to Pincher Creek Health Centre with undetermined injuries via a private vehicle before first responders attended the scene.  The fire was extinguished and the scene was cleared by approximately 1:00 pm.

Update: According to Constable Curwin of the Pincher Creek RCMP, the fire was caused by mechanical failure.  The driver suffered undetermined lower body injuries.  No charges are expected to be laid in relation to the incident.

Man charged in relation to 2015 Stand Off homicide
