Opioid Information Sessions to be held throughout southwest Alberta

Chinook Arch Regional Library System - How did we get here? This is a question on many Albertans’ minds regarding the opioid crisis. The issue is widespread its effects can be seen across southwest communities - both urban and rural.

Luckily, libraries across southwest Alberta are answering the call for factual and relevant information through upcoming Opioid Information Sessions, which will take place this fall. The sessions have been coordinated through Chinook Arch Regional Library System, thanks to a grant received from the Government of Alberta’s Opioid Response Public Awareness Grants for Communities, which is administered by the Alberta Rural Development Network (ARDN).

RCMP Alberta - Raymond RCMP is seeking the public's assistance regarding a theft of a foal horse that occurred at a rural property northeast of Welling, Alberta. Sometime during the early hours of May 2 , 2018 unknown suspect(s) entered and removed the foal from the corral.

Charges laid against Raymond man in historical sex crimes investigation

RCMP Alberta - RCMP in Picture Butte have laid charges against a 49-year-old man following an investigation into allegations of sexual assaults that occurred 30 years ago.  On January 16, 2018 investigators arrested Marvin “Ross “ Harker (49) of Raymond, Alberta. He faces charges of Sexual Interference and has been released on a recognizance with conditions including no contact with persons under 18. Harker is scheduled to appear on February 7th, 2018 in Lethbridge Provincial Court.

5 charged after 3 separate cocaine seizures at Coutts

RCMP Federal Policing South - The RCMP Federal Policing’s Integrated Border Enforcement Team (IBET) in Raymond, Alberta, have arrested five men in relation to charges of Importation of a Controlled Substance and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) after three separate seizures of cocaine at the Coutts, Alberta, Port of Entry.

Hawks host 2016 Junior Girls Volleyball Showdown

Chris Davis - The 2016 Halton Hawks Junior A and B Girls Volleyball Showdown was held at the Matthew Halton High School gymnasium last Friday and Saturday, with a total of 7 "A" and 6 "B" teams participating. The A teams (grade 8/9) were divided into two pools for the initial games of the round robin format invitational tournament.  The B teams (grade 7/8) competed in one pool.

Fatal rollover near Coaldale and Raymond

RCMP Alberta - On June 22, 2016 at approximately 5:00 am the Coaldale and Raymond RCMP, along with EMS & Fire responded to a single vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 4 and Highway 845. 

A silver Honda Accord was traveling northbound on highway 845 when the driver of the vehicle failed to negotiate the curve, lost control and rolled the vehicle. The driver, a 58 year old male, sustained serious injuries and subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

Pincher Creek's Peewee Chinooks hosted Raymond's Raiders at the MCC arena on Saturday November 23.  The Raiders won by one point, 7-6 after a game that was full on until the last seconds.  On Sunday November 24 the Chinooks travelled to Picture Butte where they took on the Raiders 2 team.  That game played to a 3-3 draw.
