Mischief to Fort Macleod Lions Ball Diamond

RCMP Alberta - Sometime between the hours of 8:00 pm on September 5th and 8:00 am on September 6th, 2018 unknown suspects entered the concession booth at the Lions Ball Diamond in Fort Macleod and proceeded to splash paint all over the walls and floor causing a considerable amount of damage.

Blood Tribe man killed in hit and run incident near Lethbridge Airport

RCMP Alberta - On September 4 around 4:50 am on Highway 5 near Township Road 82 two people were walking on Highway 5 southbound. The man and a woman had just left the Lethbridge city limits walking towards the Lethbridge Airport. The man was on the southbound driving lane and was struck by a truck also heading southbound. The woman was not hit by the truck nor injured. Coaldale RCMP members, Lethbridge Police Service members, Lethbridge Fire/EMS all responded to this event. Tragically, a 26 year old man from the Blood Tribe Reserve was pronounced deceased on scene.

Update on investigation into shooting on Highway 1A

RCMP Alberta - The RCMP Serious Crimes Branch is appealing to the public for information in the investigation into a shooting that occurred August 2, 2018.

At approximately 11:40 am, a black Dodge Durango was travelling eastbound on Highway 1A through the Stoney Nakoda First Nation. The investigation thus far has revealed that the vehicle, driven by a 60-year-old man from Germany, was travelling from Banff towards Calgary. While travelling on Highway 1A, the man and his family detoured into the Nakoda Lodge briefly then continued east, travelling off the highway once again onto Branch Road and driving a short distance before returning to Highway 1A and continuing east.

Alberta RCMP alarm policy changes to improve efficiency

RCMP Alberta - Alberta RCMP is following a new policy: to verify alarms before responding, and to not respond to alarms that are only triggered once. The policy came into effect on July 13, 2018.

Canada Revenue Agency fraud scam

RCMP Alberta - RCMP have recently received reports of a telephone scam circulating where individuals posing as Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) tell the call recipient they own money to CRA and can pay with Google cards or some form of alternate gift card purchase.

Impaired charge for operator of boat on Oldman Reservoir

Pincher Creek RCMP - On August 11, 2018 at 8:30 pm Pincher Creek Emergency Services and RCMP received a 911 call from a boater on the Oldman Reservoir who reported his boat had quit and the people onboard were in peril. With limited information and thunderstorms storms moving in, Pincher Creek Fire, Cowley Fire, and the RCMP responded to the North Fork boat launch.

The boater and boat were located on the Crowsnest River arm of the reservoir, where they were sitting on a shallow muddy area. In the boat was a 36-year-old male from Crowsnest Pass, a 32-year-old female and a 7-year-old child.

The adults were found to be intoxicated, the male operator of the boat was arrested and subsequently charged for impaired care and control of a vessel, as well as liquor offences.

RCMP Major Crimes South investigating death of 2-year-old

RCMP Alberta - RCMP Major Crimes are investigating the death of a two year old girl who was taken to hospital on August 2 with serious injuries. The Cardston RCMP were notified of this situation on August 3, 2018 and launched an investigation. On August 6, the young girl died in the hospital as a result of her injuries. On August 7 an autopsy was completed at the Calgary Medical Examiner’s office. The RCMP are working with several agencies as the investigation continues.

Pincher Creek RCMP and Southern Alberta CRT seize stolen property / firearms and cocaine

Pincher Creek RCMP  – The Pincher Creek RCMP worked in conjunction with the Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Team (CRT) to target and investigate activities at a rural residence believed to be involved in drug trafficking, and harboring stolen property. The investigation was successful, arrests were made and charges laid.

Triple fatality on Hwy 22 near Priddis

RCMP Alberta – This morning at 3:10 a.m., Turner Valley RCMP responded to a report of a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 22 west of Priddis Valley Road.

As a result of the collision three adults are deceased, and one adult has been transported to a hospital via STARS Air Ambulance.

Two vehicles were travelling on Highway 22 in opposite directions and collided head-on.  The 26-year-old male driver and his 31-year-old female passenger in a car were both declared deceased on scene.  The 34-year-old male driver of an SUV was also declared deceased while the 27-year-old female passenger of the SUV was transported to a Calgary hospital with serious, but non life-threatening injuries.

Investigation into this collision continues by the RCMP Collision Analyst.  Resources from Okotoks and Cochrane RCMP provided assistance.

The RCMP have now re-opened the highway to travel.

Fifth wheel trailer stolen in Pincher Creek, RCMP request public's assistance.

Pincher Creek RCMP - Pincher Creek RCMP requests the public's assistance in solving a theft. Between July 3, 2018, and July 17, 2018, a fifth wheel trailer was stolen from 1274 Bighorn Avenue, Pincher Creek .

Fatal MVC on Hwy 519 near Granum

RCMP Alberta - On Monday July 23rd at approximately 7:00 am, the Fort Macleod and Claresholm RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 519 near Range Road 242.  A Honda Civic travelling westbound on the secondary highway crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a GMC Sierra truck. Both the female driver and female passenger of the Honda Civic were pronounced deceased at the scene while the driver of the GMC truck was transported to hospital with unknown injuries.

Alberta RCMP Commanding Officer Deputy Commissioner Todd Shean announces retirement from the Force

RCMP Alberta - Deputy Commissioner Todd Shean, Commanding Officer of the Alberta RCMP, has announced his retirement after serving the citizens of Canada for 32 years. Shean has held this position for the past 15 months and his last day as Commanding Officer will be September 7, 2018.

Fatal collision on Highway 2

RCMP Alberta - At approximately 9:40 am July 14, Claresholm RCMP and Fort Macleod RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 2 near Township Road 120. A white courier van travelling northbound on Highway 2 entered the centre median and rolled several times.

The passenger of the van, a 25-year-old man from Calgary was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The driver, a 21-year-old female from Calgary was also ejected from the vehicle and was taken by ambulance to area hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries.

Claresholm RCMP, with the assistance of an RCMP collision analyst are continuing to investigate to determine the cause and any factors in the collision.

Coaldale RCMP investigate fatal collision

RCMP Alberta - On June 25, 2018 at approximately 5:00 p.m. Coaldale RCMP along with Coalhurst Fire Department and Lethbridge EMS responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two cars on Highway 3 approximately 2 km west of the Highway 509 intersection. Initial investigation indicates that a white Toyota Corolla was being driven by a 61-year-old man eastbound on the westbound lanes of Highway 3. At one point the white Corolla struck into a westbound white Chevrolet Impala. There were two occupants of the white Impala.

Airdrie RCMP intercept vehicle involved in carjacking

RCMP Alberta - The Airdrie RCMP have assisted the Calgary Police Service (CPS) to intercept a vehicle involved in a carjacking in Calgary and arrest the suspects responsible just outside of Crossfield, AB.

Hanna RCMP investigating stolen livestock trailer

RCMP Alberta - Sometime around June 5, 2018 a livestock trailer was stolen from a parking lot in Hanna.  The trailer is a 2014 "Merritt" 5th wheel aluminum stock trailer. It is 32 feet long and has 3 axles. At the time of being stolen it had Alberta plate 5EL243 on the rear (the attached photo is the actual trailer that was stolen).

Fort Macleod RCMP - On Wednesday June 6, 2018 the Fort Macleod RCMP were made aware of two separate thefts which occurred between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

The first theft occurred at Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump which is located on Hwy 785, West of Fort Macleod. A 20 foot black Oasis flat deck trailer was stolen from their parking lot after a lock was broken off the trailer hitch.

The second theft occurred near 12 Street and Hwy 2 in Fort Macleod. A yellow CAT skid-steer was stolen from a construction site. It appears to have been driven from the site and onto Hwy 2 before being loaded onto a trailer about 500 metres South of 12 St.
