Here are a few methods for effectively cleaning a concrete driveway. Combine water with dish soap. Scrub the driveway and rinse with water. Or 1 cup TSP (trisodium phosphate) to every gallon of water (use proper eyewear and gloves). Let soak for 15 mins. then spray with a hose. Or 50/50 chlorine bleach and water. Scrub with a stiff brush and rinse with water.

I have a terrible time cleaning the glass on my cabinets. They smear excessively. I think that they are Plexiglass; I really need help! Thank you! Kitty

Dear Kitty,

Plexiglass is highly susceptible to scratching and permanent etching due to chemicals such as ammonia glass cleaner. Use products specifically designed for Plexiglass. If commercial products are not an option, clean Plexiglass with a soft cloth such as an optical cleaning cloth. Spray the glass with a solution of 4-cups water, half tsp. dish soap and one tsp. rubbing alcohol. Gently wipe. Repeat with plain water being careful not to allow water to air dry thereby causing water spots.

Dear Leonore,

The easiest application method for applying lotion to one’s own back is to squirt the lotion onto the back of a wooden spoon. Use the convex side of the spoon to spread the lotion onto skin.

Dear Reena,

I am hoping that you can offer a solution for my daughter. She recently had her dirty laundry sorted on the floor of her laundry area in the basement of her home. Unfortunately her sewer line backed up and the basement sewer drain is right in front of her washing machine. Some of her clothes ended up soaked with sewer liquid and now she can't get the smell out of her clothes. She washed them immediately the conventional way, then washed them again and tried adding vinegar to the washing machine - still no luck at removing that nasty odor. I am thinking that using extra fabric softener in the wash is only going to mask the odor for a short time but not eliminate it totally. What else could she try in order to salvage her clothes?
