Pincher Creek Legion members commemorate 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge


Chris Davis - Royal Canadian Legion #43 Pincher Creek members held a memorial service at Cenotaph Park in Pincher Creek on April 6 in remembrance of the Battle of Vimy Ridge in northern France April 9-12, 1917, 100 years ago. Master of Ceremonies Comrade Fred White led the singing of O Canada and God Save the Queen, the moment of silence. the Act of Remembrance, and the Presentation,. Padre Reverend Dave Goff recited a prayer and the benediction and blessing. Service Officer Lorne Pulz placed a wreath at the cenotaph at the conclusion of the ceremony. Other participating Legion members included Sgt. At Arms John Baker, John Morin, Jim Litkowski, and Bill Skelly.

Legion members win Alberta/NWT Mixed Darts tournament


Doug Smith - Pictured above left to right, Doug and Linda Smith of Pincher Creek pose with Rod Peake and Bernice Carrier from Lethbridge after winning the Royal Canadian Legion Alberta / Northwest Territories Senior Mixed Darts tournament, held February 24 and 25, 2017.  The tournament was hosted at the Fort Saskatchewan Legion Branch # 27. The team was representing the Lethbridge-based Royal Canadian Legion General Stewart Branch #4. The team won the fourth and highest available level in darts competition, after competing against 16 teams in a total of 48 games.  The winners won 34 games. Also, team player Rod Peake from Lethbridge threw a perfect score of 180.

Pincher Creek Legion holds second annual Poker Rally

Toni Lucas - Pincher Creek Royal Canadian Legion #43 held their second Annual Father's Day Poker Rally on Saturday, June 18. The event was meant to be a scenic tour of the countryside with a stop in the communities of Lundbreck, Twin Butte, Beaver Mines, and Cowley where each participant got to draw a card form a destination deck. Once everyone was back at the Legion they received a fifth card giving each of the 12 adventurous participants a five-card poker hand.
