Town of Pincher Creek council approves up to $60,000 for Lebel Mansion elevator

Toni Lucas - Council for the Town of Pincher Creek held a regular meeting on Monday, May 14 in council chambers. Pincher Creek Allied Arts Council (PCAAC) Executive Director Stacey McRae approached council as a delegation to ask if they could get a letter of support required the next day. They are hoping to get matching funding to complete the project they have had in the works for years, the addition of an elevator in the Lebel Mansion building. The letter is for a grant they are asking from Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP). The elevator has been planned to be in the back half of the building and help those with mobility issues and to make the building a more accessible public building.

Allied Arts Council seeks council's support for Lebel Mansion upgrades

Toni Lucas - Yvan Lebel represented the Allied Arts Council (AAC) when he appeared as a delegation at the regular meeting of Pincher Creek's Town council on Monday, December 12, 2016. The AAC have two proposed projects he discussed. The first is renovations upstairs at the Lebel Mansion, including an elevator.  The second is a power and telecom project to integrate wifi and solar power in the building.

Town Council approves sod expense for Lebel Mansion restoration project

Toni Lucas - At the regular meeting of Pincher Creek's Town Council on Monday evening, August 22 council decided to allocate up to $7,000 of an Alberta Historical  Resources Foundation grant to landscaping at the Lebel Mansion site.  This is part of a larger project, the reshaping of the Lebel Mansion grounds after the structural failure of a retaining wall.  Since 2011 the retaining wall was removed, the historic fencing was taken down and stored, the grounds were reshaped, and the fence has been mostly restored.

Oldman Rose Society asks Town of Pincher Creek for a lease extension

Toni Lucas - A delegation from the Oldman Rose Society of Southern Alberta (ORSSA) appeared before Pincher Creek's Town Council on Tuesday evening, May 24.  Jan Frith acted as the ORSSA spokeswoman and was accompanied by Society President Kay Weir and Executive Board Member Donna Cisar.  The seven year lease which was granted to ORSSA by the Town of Pincher Creek for the area east of the Lebel Mansion, for their rose garden, comes up for renewal this year, and Frith asked if it is possible to sign another seven year lease.  She also said the volunteers for the rose garden project "Have been amazing."  Other items discussed were an upcoming brochure explaining the different roses in the beds, and deer that dine at the garden.
