Splash of Luck fundraiser a big success

Toni Lucas - Pincher Spray Park Society (PCSPS) held the 'A Splash Of Luck' fundraising gala on Friday, March 17 at the Pincher Creek Community Hall. PCSPS Chair Jennifer Draper was overwhelmed with the support from the community.  "We have 250 people here.  This is just fantastic."  There were many things to make the evening entertaining.  The St. Patrick's Day date brought out a green theme, and there was much fun and frivolity in the air.  There were desserts, and live and silent auctions. Bob Westrop was the auctioneer. The headlining entertainment was Puck ‘n’ Funny comedians Brittany Lyseng, who had a humorous view of her personal experiences, and Harry Doupe, who extolled the Albertan fascination with the weather.

Spray Park Society makes presentations to both Pincher Creek councils

Pincher Creek Spray Park Society Co-chair Jennifer Draper appeared before Town council on Monday, May 9 and Municipal District Council on Tuesday, May 10, with Co-chair Billi Rigaux also in attendance.  Their presentations included information about the plans and actions the society has undertaken to this point, including an overview of site possibilities, fundraising, and engineering considerations.  The society was formally formed a year ago.  "What we would really like to do is to lock down a lot," Draper told Town council.  "We would like to nail down a budget, and we really need to know where we are going to do this.  In order to apply for grants we kind of need to know where we are putting this." Town council committed to an upcoming decision-making meeting, and MD council asked to be kept informed about the project.

A Splash of Romance Luau fundraiser a festive and fun event

The A Splash of Romance Luau was held at the Pincher Creek Community Hall on Saturday, February 13, just before Valentine's Day. Many of the 150 people who attended dressed to hit the beach and all were presented with leis upon arrival. In luau tradition, the main dinner fare was a pig roast.  The evening included live, silent, and dessert auctions.

The Smash a Car Spray Park Fundraiser was sponsored by the Abundant Springs Community Church and was held as part of the Ranchland Harvest Festival in Pincher Creek on Saturday, September 25.

Planning for Pincher Creek splash park moves forward

Toni Lucas - A public meeting was held Wednesday, February 4 in the Pincher Creek Town Hall gymnasium to discuss the possibilities around constructing a splash park in Pincher Creek. Approximately 25 citizens attended the meeting, which was led by Director of Community Services Diane Burt-Stuckey and Pincher Creek Recreation Manager Adam Grose.  They began by explaining that the idea was spearheaded by Jennifer Pierzchala-Draper.  She started a Facebook page promoting the idea that a splash park in Pincher Creek would be a good thing for the community. Draper was in attendance at the meeting. She said she takes her three boys to splash parks in other communities, and sees them as a value-added proposition for those communities, bringing in visitors and even new residents.
