High River RCMP warn drivers of reduced visibility and icy road conditions

RCMP Alberta - High River RCMP is advising motorists that highways in the High River area have icy road conditions and reduced visibility from blowing snow. High River RCMP is on-scene at a number of collisions on Highway 2. Motorists traveling on Highway 23 east of High River will be delayed due to a motor vehicle collision that is currently blocking the highway. The collision will be cleared as soon as possible and an update will be provided once the highway is clear.

Motorists are asked to slow down to conditions or avoid all travel in the area if possible.

Update: The collision on Highway 23 east of High River that was causing traffic delays has been cleared from the roadway. Winter driving conditions still exist and motorists are asked to slow down to conditions or avoid travel in the area if possible.

Mischief on Highway 2

RCMP Alberta - On December 21, 2016 at approximately 11:00 am, High River RCMP responded to a complaint of mischief on Highway 2. A male suspect forced another vehicle to the shoulder of the road where he exited his own vehicle and began yelling at the driver of the parked vehicle. The suspect broke the victim’s driver's side mirror before departing. The suspect was driving a stolen vehicle at the time of the offence. This incident is still under investigation.

Poor driving conditions and multiple collisions south of Calgary

RCMP Alberta - Okotoks RCMP are advising both north and southbound lanes of traffic on highway #2 from Calgary south are in poor driving condition, snow covered, icy and low visibility. There have been multiple collisions. Volker Stevin and Main roads are in the process of sanding the highways.

Hwy 2 traffic north of Claresholm resumed, road conditions remain hazardous

UPDATE: The obstruction on Hwy 2 north of Claresholm has been removed. Traffic flow has resumed, however, road conditions remain hazardous.

House move planned from Brocket to Fort Macleod area on Oct. 14

According to 511.alberta.ca, on Friday, October 14, 2016 a portable house will be moved from east of Brocket to north of Fort Macleod between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm, on a route that includes Highway 3 and Highway 2.

Fatal MVC south of High River

RCMP Alberta - At 11:55 p.m. on September 29, 2016, High River RCMP were dispatched to a serious two vehicle collision on Highway 2, approximately six kilometres south of High River.  Preliminary investigation reveals that an SUV travelling northbound collided head-on with a car travelling southbound.  The female driver of the car has been confirmed deceased, and the 32-year-old male driver of the SUV has been transported via STARS air ambulance to a Calgary Hospital.
