Blood Tribe man killed in hit and run incident near Lethbridge Airport

RCMP Alberta - On September 4 around 4:50 am on Highway 5 near Township Road 82 two people were walking on Highway 5 southbound. The man and a woman had just left the Lethbridge city limits walking towards the Lethbridge Airport. The man was on the southbound driving lane and was struck by a truck also heading southbound. The woman was not hit by the truck nor injured. Coaldale RCMP members, Lethbridge Police Service members, Lethbridge Fire/EMS all responded to this event. Tragically, a 26 year old man from the Blood Tribe Reserve was pronounced deceased on scene.

Opioid Information Sessions to be held throughout southwest Alberta

Chinook Arch Regional Library System - How did we get here? This is a question on many Albertans’ minds regarding the opioid crisis. The issue is widespread its effects can be seen across southwest communities - both urban and rural.

Luckily, libraries across southwest Alberta are answering the call for factual and relevant information through upcoming Opioid Information Sessions, which will take place this fall. The sessions have been coordinated through Chinook Arch Regional Library System, thanks to a grant received from the Government of Alberta’s Opioid Response Public Awareness Grants for Communities, which is administered by the Alberta Rural Development Network (ARDN).

Coaldale RCMP investigate fatal collision

RCMP Alberta - On June 25, 2018 at approximately 5:00 p.m. Coaldale RCMP along with Coalhurst Fire Department and Lethbridge EMS responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two cars on Highway 3 approximately 2 km west of the Highway 509 intersection. Initial investigation indicates that a white Toyota Corolla was being driven by a 61-year-old man eastbound on the westbound lanes of Highway 3. At one point the white Corolla struck into a westbound white Chevrolet Impala. There were two occupants of the white Impala.

Coaldale RCMP responds to multiple fatality MVC

RCMP Alberta - At approximately 6:30 p.m. on May 16, 2018 Coaldale RCMP and Coaldale Fire Department personnel responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 845 just south of Highway 4. Through investigation it was determined a grey Ford Freestar minivan heading northbound on Highway 845 drove off of the highway on a curve just before the CP Rail tracks. The minivan entered a deep ditch striking with significant impact on the north bank and coming to a rest on the rail tracks. The speed zone transitioned just south of the collision area from 100 km/p/h to 65 km/p/h.

Coaldale RCMP respond to a train vs semi collision

RCMP Alberta - On April 26, 2018 at approximately 9:40 am, Coaldale RCMP along with Lethbridge Fire/EMS responded to the intersection of Highway 3 and Range Road 211 for a serious motor vehicle collision involving a semi truck and a CP Rail train.

Fatal MVC on Highway 3 at Broxburn intersection

RCMP Alberta - On Friday February 23, 2018 at approximately 4:00 p.m. the Coaldale RCMP along with the Coaldale Fire Department/EMS responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 3 at the Broxburn intersection.

Pincher Creek RCMP investigating theft from vehicle, stolen and recovered trailers parked at Castle Mountain

Pincher Creek RCMP -  On November 12, 2017 Pincher Creek RCMP responded to a complaint that someone had removed the diesel particulate filter catalysts system from a large truck that was parked in the industrial area of Pincher Creek.  It is suspected this unit was stolen for the recycling value of the metals contained in the system, the theft is believed to have happened the night of November 11, 2017.

Pincher Creek RCMP are also investigating the theft of two trailers that were recovered at the Castle Mountain Ski hill on November 9, 2017.

Coaldale RCMP want to return circular prisim and optical plummet to owner

RCMP Alberta - On August 22, 2017, the Coaldale RCMP recovered found property (pictured above) near the Jennie Emery Elementary School in Coaldale. This property is described as being a Pro Precision Circular Prism and Optical Plummet. Both are believed to be used for surveying. Coaldale RCMP seeking public assistance in identifying a man with a handgun

RCMP Alberta  - On Monday August 14th at around 5:30 p.m. just south of Coaldale, a man was observed putting down an injured dog with a handgun. Previously this man had driven over the dog while exercising the dog on a leash. The man was allowing the dog to run along side his vehicle. The incident occurred near the intersection of Range Road 211 and Hwy 512 southeast of the Town of Coaldale.

The man was described as a Caucasian in his thirties, six feet tall, 180-200 lbs, shaved head, wearing sweat pants. The vehicle was described as an older model silver Chrysler 300 with black tinted windows and a cargo mesh separating the back seats from the front. No licence plate was obtained.

MVC with cattle kills Lethbridge woman near Coaldale

RCMP Alberta - On July 1-, 2017 at approximately 11:50 p.m., the Coaldale RCMP along with City of Lethbridge Fire/EMS responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Range Road 212 near Township Road 92.

Fatal single-vehicle collision near Coaldale

RCMP Alberta – This morning at approximately 10:00 a.m., Coaldale RCMP responded to a single vehicle rollover collision on Range Road 212 approximately one kilometer north of Highway 3. A 2005 white Ford Escape was traveling southbound on Range Road 212 when it lost control and entered into the west ditch hitting an embankment. The vehicle rolled over and ended up on its roof.

There were three occupants inside the Ford Escape at the time of the collision. Tragically a 73-year-old male from Lethbridge was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other occupants have been taken by ground ambulance to the Chinook Regional Hospital for treatment to what is thought to be serious injuries.

Community Foundation awards $14,000 in Youth in Action grants

Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta - The Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta is happy to announce ten grants to fund projects through its Youth in Action Granting program, for a total of $14,000. Funding will support active youth, learning opportunities, pet care, and a solar energy project. Communities involved include Cardston, Coaldale, Glenwood, Hays, Lethbridge, and Pincher Creek.

Drugs and firearms seized in two separate southwestern Alberta investigations

ALERT - More than $55,000 worth of drugs and 11 firearms have been seized following two separate ALERT investigations last week. Homes were searched in Lethbridge, Coaldale, and Fort MacLeod.  ALERT Lethbridge’s organized crime and gang teams worked with officers from Lethbridge Police Service, Coaldale RCMP and Fort MacLeod RCMP on the investigations. The two investigations were unrelated but both focused on addressing community concerns related to drug dealing.

RCMP Alberta - On February 27, 2017 the Coaldale RCMP are launching a new program in Coaldale. A new school resource officer, Community Peace Officer (CPO) Jerry Gurr will assume this role today. Additionally a dedicated RCMP traffic enforcement officer, Constable Stephen Fyfe, will begin his traffic duties today within the Town of Coaldale.

Coaldale RCMP investigate the theft of a fiberglass cistern

RCMP Alberta - On February 21, 2017 the Coaldale RCMP received a complaint of a theft of a 1000 lb fiberglass cistern worth $4900 taken from a Coaldale business. The cistern was stolen sometime on the weekend of February 10-13, 2017. Cisterns are defined as waterproof receptacles for holding liquids, usually water. They are primarily used for rural properties. Based on its size, the stolen cistern would have been hauled by a large trailer. Each cistern have unique serial numbers. This stolen cistern has serial #SN1700500.

Coaldale rural residential B&E suspects arrested

RCMP Alberta - On February 11, 2017 at approximately 11:50 am the Coaldale RCMP responded to a break and enter complaint in progress at a rural property south of Coaldale. The two suspects left the scene with the property owners giving chase. After a minor collision on Highway 845 Coaldale RCMP members arrested the two suspects that fled on foot.

RCMP Alberta - On Feb. 2, 2017 at around 2:45 p.m. the Coaldale RCMP along with Coaldale Fire/EMS responded to a train vs car collision on the rail crossing at highway 3 and 11th street in Coaldale.

Taber man crtitically injured while walking on Hwy 3 near Coaldale

RCMP Alberta - On January 20, 2017 at 7:40 p.m. Coaldale RCMP and Lethbridge Fire/EMS were dispatched to a pedestrian vehicle collision on Highway 3 at the Sunnyside Road just east of the City of Lethbridge. The initial investigation reveals a pickup truck was travelling eastbound on Highway 3 and struck a 47 year old man from Taber, Alberta while he was on Highway 3. The exact point of impact appears to be close to the driving lane. The man was wearing dark clothing. At time of the collision the road was dry, weather mild but dark with no artificial light in the area.

The Coaldale RCMP are continuing with their investigation of Trevor Pritchard, of Coaldale, Alberta. Two additional victims have since been identified. Pritchard will appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court on Jan. 25, 2017. At that time the following additional charges will be heard:

• Sexual Assault Contrary to Section 271 of the Criminal Code
• Sexual Assault with a weapon Contrary to Section 272(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
• Sexual Assault with a weapon Contrary to Section 272(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
• Sexual touching of a person under the age of 16 years Contrary to Section 151 of the Criminal Code
• Communicate with a person under 18 years of age to commit a sexual related offence Contrary to Section 172. 1(1)(b) of the Criminal Code

RCMP Alberta - On the morning of January 18, 2017 the Coaldale RCMP were informed of a sexual assault of a 15 year old female at a residence in Coaldale on Tuesday, January 17, 2017.

Poor Lethbridge area roadways during holiday season

RCMP Alberta - Between December 23, 2016 and December 27, 2016 the Coaldale RCMP responded to nearly 30 collisions on highways surrounding the City of Lethbridge. The weather conditions were very poor with extreme winds, heavy snow falls and then windy blowing snow conditions.
