On Tuesday, February 8 the Matthew Halton Senior Hawks Girls basketball team in Pincher Creek hosted the Crowsnest Pass Consolidated Pandas.
Alyssa Barbero, one of the two grade 12 Hawks players, showed up to the game on crutches due to an injuryshe'd sustained at a game in Vulcan the evening before. "It was a good game, we won," she said of that contest.
On the Pandas bench Dakota was also sitting out the game. A key player for each side out of the game challenged expectations.
Pandas Jillian showed good hustle and Danika was aware and worked well with her teammates during the game. Raegan was high team scorer.
The Hawks proved that no one player wins a game, they did it by working well together as a team. Kate Nicas was particularly strong defensively and Megan McGlynn played well and showed great sportsmanship throughout the game.
Final score Hawks 61, Pandas 27.
