Government of Alberta Government updating hunting regulations

Government of Alberta - The Government of Alberta is updating provincial hunting regulations to specify what categories of equipment are appropriate for hunting big game.  Beginning in the 2018 hunting season, firearms and equipment that are legal for use will be limited to rifles, shotguns and conventional archery gear. Other tools, including spears and spear-throwing tools such as atlatls, will not be allowed under the new regulations.

Alberta chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers supports direction of new Castle Parks

Backcountry Hunters and Anglers Alberta Chapter - A group of Alberta hunters and anglers are congratulating the government on the protection of the Castle Provincial and Wildland Parks and supporting the phase-out of off-highway vehicle use from the new parks.  The Alberta Chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers are united in their belief that the freedom to hunt and fish depends on habitat. While many enjoy hunting and fishing on a range of landscapes, there is something special – even magical – about hunting deep in the backcountry or fishing on a remote river.

Willow Valley Trophy Club (WVTC) held their 65th Annual Awards Day on Saturday January 11, 2014 at the Pincher Creek Community Hall. This all-day affair started with the doors opening at 8 am. Entries ringed the lower level with booths and vendors upstairs. Several hundred people attended from all over southern Alberta. They came to enter. to see the trophies, to check the wares from the vendors, to hear the keynote speech by Andrea Morehouse, and to visit. The room was filled with people telling each other stories, relating experiences, learning and sharing information.
