Ranchlands Victim Services Society is seeking volunteers interested in becoming front-line advocates to provide support, information, and referrals to victims of crime and tragedy, at all unit locations. We require individuals interested in a challenging and rewarding volunteer experience, who are caring and nonjudgmental with a sincere interest in helping victims move past their immediate trauma.

We provide extensive training in many areas, including domestic violence, sexual assault, suicide intervention, advocate safety and the justice system.

In Memoriam: Venard Dean Beauregard

1964 ~ 2018 

It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Venard “Dean” Beauregard. Dean will be lovingly missed by his sisters Verna (Bruce) Fraser, Veronica Baeuregard, Vanessa Beauregard and brothers Bruce and Peter Beauregard. Although Dean didn’t have children of his own, he loved his six nieces and nephews and nine great nieces and nephews like they were his own. He is also survived by his fur children Kacey, Maggie, Jasper and Kalesia. Dean was predeceased by his father Vernard and mother Denise Beauregard.

Five months following the Kenow Wildfire, ratepayers of the MD Pincher Creek Division 1 and others are not satisfied with our local government’s handling of the emergency prior to, during and following the event.

A Formal Inquiry is needed to address the ways and reasons the MD Pincher Creek failed its residents. Why was there no advance warning or evacuation, no accurate information or communication, no fire preparedness, no up-to-date MD maps or ratepayer contact information available for the use of RCMP during the evacuation?

Gina Lorinda Yagos - 1976 - 2018

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear daughter, sister, aunt, granddaughter and niece who was residing in Toronto, Ontario. Gina was born and raised at Lee Lake and graduated from Livingstone School, Lundbreck with Honors; received her BA in Political Science from Queen's University with distinction at Kingston, Ontario and her MA in Political Science from the University of Toronto.

Gina was a brilliant person who loved animals, especially cats, and her home at Lee Lake.

Gina will be dearly missed by her parents, Bertha and Terry Yagos, her brothers, Marc and Ryan, her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Rosalie Engels, her niece Catherine, nephew Alexandre, aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous family members.

At this time no service will be held and we invite all of you who knew Gina to join us this summer in a get together at the Lee Lake Ranch to join us in a celebration of her life with details around such being communicated at a future date. Memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the charity of your choice. Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca .

At this time of year, we reflect on the past year and look forward to the future year. 2017 has been another busy year for Town Council, administration and staff.

Pincher Creek, along with other municipalities in the province held elections for Council in October. The result of our election was four returning incumbents and three new members of Council. Since the election we have attended numerous training and information sessions and will be conducting a strategic planning session early in the new year with Council and senior administration. I am very pleased with the dynamics of our new Council group and everyone has hit the ground running.

Ronald Wayne Draper

(1947-2017)

On Friday, October 27, 2017, Ronald Wayne Draper of Pincher Creek, Alberta, passed away suddenly at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary from complications of surgery. He was surrounded by his loving wife Karen and his family.

It was the family’s request that a private memorial service be held at a later date.

Veronica “Vernie” Kathryn Bruder, beloved wife of the late Joseph William Bruder, passed away on October 21, 2017 at the age of 90 years. Vernie is survived by her children: Ronald (Rhonda), Carol, Jane (Walter Schauerte), Eric (Olga), Blaise (Linda), son-in-law Dennis Carney (Ann), Myron (Evelyn), David (Bev), Rhona Bartolotti, daughter-in-law Janet Bruder (Steve), James (Lynn), Paul (Chris), Carlos (Glenda), Steven, Tony (Lorraine), forty-eight grandchildren, seventy-one great grandchildren (soon to be seventy-two), and four sisters-in-law Rosalie Leveque, Agatha McRae, Frieda Bruder, and Frances Bruder. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Anton and Julia Bonertz, her husband Joseph, son Kevin, daughter Angela, daughter-in-law Tracey and granddaughter-in-law Jennifer.  Vernie had great love and pride in her family and took great joy in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always willing to help anybody and with anything. She lived her faith through the love and care she showed to all she came in contact with. 

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Michael’s Catholic Church (958 Christie Avenue, Pincher Creek) on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 11:00am with Reverend Silvano Vargas presiding. Memorial Donations in Vernie’s name may be made directly to the Good Samaritans Society, (P.O. Box 1510, Pincher Creek, AB T0K 1W0).

Fundraiser established for Pincher Creek couple who lost their home to fire recently

A GoFundMe page has been established for a Pincher Creek couple who lost their home to a fire on May 14.  They lost everything they owned, including two cats, needed medicines and hearings aids, their vehicle, and all their possessions.  They have hotel accommodations for a short while, but have no clear picture of their future after that.
