Town of Pincher Creek councillors attend tribute dinner for Beverly McLachlin

Councillor Brian McGillivray and Councillor Korbett, of the Town of Pincher Creek, had the privilege of attending the Tribute Dinner for the Right Honourable Beverley  held in Vancouver Friday, April 27, 2018.

Scott and I had the wonderful opportunity of representing the Town of Pincher Creek at the Tribute Dinner in Honour of the Right Honourable Beverly McLachlin, PC, Chief Justice of Canada.  At a reception before the actual event, we made a special presentation to Her Honour. Chief Justice of Canada Beverley McLachlin to receive Honorary Doctorate from Laurentian University

Christian Davis - The Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin is one of six distinguished Canadians who will receive an Honorary Doctorate on May 31 at Laurentian University's Spring 2016 Convocation ceremonies in Sudbury. McLachlin (nee Gietz) was born in Pincher Creek in 1943 and spent her formative years here.  Bev McLachlin Drive was renamed in her honour. She is the 17th and current Chief Justice of Canada, and in that role also chairs the Canadian Judicial Council, the Advisory Council of the Order of Canada and the Board of Governors of the National Judicial Institute. McLachlin is also the longest serving Chief Justice in Canadian history, appointed to the position January 7, 2000, and is the first woman to hold the position. Her judicial career began in April 1981 when she was appointed to the Vancouver County Court. She's been awarded with over 31 Honorary Degrees from various universities.
