Ronald Wayne Draper

(1947-2017)

On Friday, October 27, 2017, Ronald Wayne Draper of Pincher Creek, Alberta, passed away suddenly at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary from complications of surgery. He was surrounded by his loving wife Karen and his family.

It was the family’s request that a private memorial service be held at a later date.

Chris Davis - Former Alberta Premier Jim Prentice passed away on the evening of October 13, the result of a plane crash near Kelowna which also claimed three other lives, including the father in law of one of Prentice's daughters.

Words cannot begin to express our profound shock and heartbreak at the news that our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Jim, has died in this tragic event.

In memory of Ferol Jean Davis

FEROL JEAN DAVIS

(Dec. 17, 1927 – Aug. 16, 2016)

Ferol, wife of Howard Davis, passed away after a brief time at the Pincher Creek Health Care Centre on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at the age of 88 years.

Ferol was born at home on the family farm in Lima County, Illinois to Truman and Lydia Waite. She was an identical twin to her sister Carol and the older sister to brother Daryl. Ferol (& Carol) enjoyed their childhood years on the family farm, especially riding their much-loved ponies.

MP John Barlow on the passing of Mr. Ken Hurlburt

The offfice of Foothills MP John Barlow - Foothills MP John Barlow was saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Ken Hurlburt of Fort Macleod. An innovator in the business community, Mr. Hurlburt was the first person to sell land by auction 50 years ago, introduced video cattle sales with his son and business partner, Brant, and sold in prestigious auctions from Toronto to Vancouver. He also served as Mayor of Fort Macleod, then as a Progressive Conservative Member of Parliament for Lethbridge-Foothills from 1972-79. During his time as MP, Mr. Hurlburt advocated strongly for agriculture and succeeded in securing more humane treatment for horses destined for slaughter in Europe. Most importantly, he was a dedicated family man who will be terribly missed.

Glenn Kettles, the great grandson of Pincher Creek pioneer Charles Kettles Sr., passed away unexpectedly in the morning on June 27, 2016 at his residence in Pincher Creek AB at the age of 62. Glenn was born on November 1, 1953 to Duncan and Pearl Kettles. He was the third of six children. Glenn remained a resident of Pincher Creek for his entire life. At the age of 18 Glenn began his career at the Shell Waterton Gas Plant advancing as a pipefitter onto a maintenance coordinator, retiring on January 1, 2009. Glenn continued to serve the oil and gas industry by founding Kettles Maintenance Ltd. and working maintenance projects throughout the province. Glenn caught travel fever early into his retirement and enjoyed many trips to Hawaii, Africa and Mexico.

In memory of Linda Louise Findlater

July 27, 1947 to January 22, 2016

Linda Findlater passed away unexpectedly while on vacation in Belize due to complications arising from a lung infection. Out of respect for Linda's wishes the family did not hold a public service.

Linda was a woman who had a great love of live, a heart of kindness and an immense dedication to family and community. For her, family was everything.  Linda and her husband Wayne Findlater were married for close to 50 years.  The couple moved to Cowley in 1991. She is survived by her three children Trina (Troy Rurik), Troy, and Terry (Jannet). She will be missed by her grandchildren and great grandchild.

On behalf of myself and my family, I would like thank Pincher Creek Seed Cleaning Co-op Manager Kevin Schmaltz and his wife Kelly, Chairman Bob Reed and his wife Debbie, and also all of the board members and those who knew Bud through his job, for their support and warm wishes during this devastating time. We lost Bud suddenly and it meant everything to know that he meant so much to so many.

Sherry Sinnott (born Sherry-Lyn McClain), wife of Les Sinnott, passed away on Wednesday October 21, 2015 in the Foothills Hospital at the age of 63. She was born on June 5, 1952 to Glen and Edna McClain.

Besides her husband Les, she is survived by her two sons Dwayne Sinnott of Lethbridge, Brad Sinnott (Lisa) and their children Evan and Avery of Calgary, her brother’s, Merle McClain of Lethbridge, Doug McClain of Pincher Creek, and a sister, Corinne Cyr of Pincher Creek. She is also survived by numerous sisters-in law, brothers-in law, nieces and nephews.

Calahan (Henry) Bruder, passed away tragically on September 6, 2015 , near Beaver Mines, Alberta. Calahan was born in Pincher Creek, AB. on March 1, 1996. He lived and went to school in Pincher Creek. Calahan was the happiest when he was working with his Dad, Lorne, on the rigs. Nothing in life made him more proud. He was most comfortable being with family and friends sharing, throughout his years, his love of the mountains. His passions were Hockey, Dirt biking, Snowboarding, Hiking, and Horseback Riding.

Calahan excelled in everything he did. He was a great athlete and played with the utmost sportsmanship. Calahan is survived by his loving parents, Sue and Lorne Bruder, sister Sage (Kevin Williamson), brothers Freddie Bruder, and Whyat Bruder, all of Pincher Creek. Aunts Jennie (Don) Marsden of Fort MacLead, and Sandy Young of Pincher Creek. His Grandmother, Freda Bruder of Pincher Creek, and many dear friends that became family. Calahan was predeceased by his Aunt, Lillian Turnbull.

Our beloved mother passed away peacefully at her home in Vista Village, Pincher Creek, with family by her side on April 4, 2015.

She was predeceased by her parents (Scotty and Laura Freebairn), her four siblings, and by her loving husband of 66 years Dr. Lorne Mitchell in 2009.

Agnes is survived by her eight children; Robert (Maureen), John (Dana), Joan (Wulf), Mary (Walter), Gordon (Lola), Lorna (Ken), Phil (Bette), and Carol as well as 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Alyre Therriault, beloved husband of Jackie Therriault, passed away on February 11, 2015 at the age of 94 years.

Besides his loving wife Jackie, Alyre is survived by his children Marie (Jim) Cameron, Audrey (Robert) Jackson, Jackie (Frank) Marsh, Tim Therriault (Jan Robertson), nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
