Government of Alberta - New land management plans for the Livingstone-Porcupine Hills areas will help conserve and protect sensitive ecosystems while improving economic and recreation opportunities.

Alberta Wilderness Association - The provincial government has released final plans and established Public Land Use Zones (PLUZ) in the Livingstone Porcupine region in order to manage the impacts of industrial development and motorized recreation in the area. Alberta Wilderness Association (AWA) believes these measures signal an important shift towards sustainable management of our public lands.

Oldman Watershed Council - The Government of Alberta's draft Livingstone-Porcupine Hills Land Footprint and Recreation Management Plans are a very positive step towards headwaters protection and essentially mirror what diverse stakeholders in the Oldman watershed agreed to and asked the Government of Alberta for, in OWC’s 2013-14 Headwaters Action Plan. OWC is pleased to see that the majority of the targets, actions, and recommendations from the Headwaters Action Plan will be addressed by the new draft Government of Alberta plans.

Toni Lucas - Talking Tombstones was a graveyard tour of Livingstone Cemetery led by Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village (KBPV) Curator Farley Wuth on the evening of Monday, August 21. Over 300 people are interred at the Livingstone Cemetery. The tour highlighted the lives of 24 pioneers that helped shape the beginnings of Lundbreck and area. The tour moved from marker to marker under the cover of night. Standing beside the grave sites, volunteers gave a summary of the life of early settlers. Wuth tried to create a tour that had a wide ranging representation of early life in a then fledgling community.

Sabres Maker Day challenged young minds

Toni Lucas - Livingstone School held a Sabres Day on Friday, May 12.   The theme for this Sabres Spirit Event was Maker Day.  All the students participated in making and experienced the frustrations and triumphs of moving something through the thought process of ideas, envisioning and creation.  Students could pick from a myriad of categories.  A the end of the day the school assembled in the gym with their projects to allow everyone the chance to view other projects and learn from each other.

Stier - 2016 a challenging year for Albertans

Time and time again Albertans showed their resilience in the face of adversity.

This was most put to the test during the Fort McMurray wildfire. As families were forced to flee their city, it was Albertans across our great province who opened their homes, their hearts and their wallets to help out strangers in their time of greatest need. Many gave more than they ever thought they could.

Livingstone Spaghetti Night and dessert auction brings in some sweet dough

Toni Lucas - Livingstone School held their annual Spaghetti Night graduation fundraiser in the Cowley Hall on Friday, December 9.  The nine graduands served dinner to close to 150 people. This is the main fundraiser for the Livingstone School graduation class and pays for photos, decorations, hall rental, and other expenditures.  The Spaghetti Night event hosted draws, a silent auction and Bob Westrop auctioned off a variety of desserts with several going for more than $200 per dessert, and with one special Kit Kat cake going for an astounding $525.

On Friday afternoon, March 11, Matthew Halton High in Pincher Creek hosted a Mini Basketball tournament, in which a total of eight mixed-gender teams from three elementary schools participated in a for fun tournament.  Represented were 3 teams from St. Michael's, two teams from Livingstone School in Lundbreck, and three Canyon School teams.

On Wednesday March 2 Livingstone High School hosted a career fair during its mentor block, allowing its students to ask questions about a variety of careers from leaders in those fields. The program was suggested by the school's students, and featured speakers from a variety of careers that held students interests. Students from grade nine all the way through to grade twelve were in attendance. A common theme amongst all of the presentations was the integration of new technologies into modern careers.

We include ranchers, acreage-owners, small business operators and others who work hard to be good stewards of our property and to protect the interests of the many landholders whose efforts keep the world-class landscape on both sides of Alberta’s Cowboy Trail — Highway 22 — teeming with wildlife and rich in scenic beauty.

Livingstone School's gym was packed for the annual Science Fair on Wednesday afternoon, January 27. Participants from grades 1-8 vied for awards and increased knowledge.  A dizzying variety of subject matter was on display, and the quality of the projects was very high.

On Tuesday evening November 10 Livingstone's Sabres JV and SV Girls hosted Crowsnest RCMP members for some off-the-cuff post-season volleyball. The Sabres demonstrated high energy, and each set was close, but the RCMP won each of four sets played.

Livingstone High School was the place to be for JV and SV volleyball on election night, Monday October 19. The Sabres Girls hosted Fort Macleod's F.P. Walshe Flyers.  The Flyers won all six sets.

On September 9 2015 the Livingstone Sabres JV and Senior girls hosted the Kainai Warriors at Livingstone School in Lundbreck for an evening of volleyball. The Warriors were a tough team, and each game was close, but ultimately the Sabres prevailed, winning both games. This is especially impressive given that they had only had one practice, the previous evening.
