The Pincher Creek JV and SV Girls Dragons hosted their counterparts from Immanuel Christian High School Eagles on Wednesday, September 24 in the Matthew Halton School Gymnasium. The Eagles won both matches, but the Dragons made them work for it.
The Dragons team is blended with students from St. Michael's and Matthew Halton Schools in Pincher Creek. That makes for a little more adjusting going on for both the JV and Senior Dragons, but it is working out quickly. The JV teams faced each other first.
JV Girls

25 - 9 Eagles
The Eagles won the first two sets, with the Dragons giving them a good contest throughout. Dragon #6 Daria Zareicluc was having a good game, as was #9 Jayden Kennedy who was showing good form and some excellent serves. After the Eagles won the second set they played the third set with the Dragons keeping a little in reserve for the senior level games. The roster for the Dragons JV and the Dragons SV look remarkably similar.
SV Girls

25 - 22 Dragons
25 - 18 Eagles
25 - 18 Eagles
The Seniors took to the court next. The first set was fast paced, with the two teams often only one point apart. The Eagles pulled ahead to win it. M. Scholten who plays #9 for the Eagles showed constant team spirit, keeping up encouraging chatter during the game. They went back and forth with tight scores for the next two set, The Dragons winning the second, and the Eagles taking the third. Tension was high going into the fourth set. # 21 Rebecca Lowry was a power house for the Dragons, and Eagles #3 C. Sikkens set up some great shots for her teammates. The Eagles took the match three sets to one. A fun game to watch, the energy level was high on both sides of the net throughout.
