A familiar situation in the Pincher Creek area right now is that of the JV level athlete playing JV (Junior Varsity) and SV (Senior Varsity) level sports due to a dearth of senior athletes. Pincher Creek's Boys Dragons aren't an exception to that rule, and the JV team is particularly new to that level of competition. On Wednesday evening September 24 they hosted the Immanuel Christian Eagles of Lethbridge at the Dale Wentz Memorial Gymnasium for an evening of volleyball. Despite losing every set, the Dragons kept their chins up, and it paid off for them in the last SV set, when they came from behind to almost win the set, losing it by only two points, a major improvement over the 10 to 15 point losses in the earlier sets.
I saw both the Girls and Boys Eagles teams play (the girls were at the Matthew Halton School gym), and in common they have an assertive and mutually supportive style that was fun to watch throughout. Good competitors.
