Over 40 kids from the ages of 7 - 18 entered into the Kids Gymkhana at the the Pincher Creek Rodeo on Friday, August 15. This gave a lot of young cowboys and cowgirls the chance to show their abilities, work with their horses, and give a show to the people watching. It was also good chance for some of the kids to pick up tips from others, and to learn by watching and doing. It was a time of great camaraderie.  MC Bob Westrop kept up an entertaining patter throughout.

Entrants had the option to participate in a variety of categories: Barrel racing, Pole Bending, Stakes and Keyhole. In these categories there was one more option; Lead-line. This is where a young rider could have an adult lead the horse through the course while they rode.

Down time: Tending the soil
Ribbons were awarded to those that placed in the top 6. The kids all got bags of candy as prizes for their efforts. The top scorers in each age group won a halter.
