In the early morning hours of August 17, 2014 members of the High River RCMP Detachment were on routine patrol when they noticed a group of youths in the area of 5th Street. As the Police approached one of the youth fled the group. This male matched the description of youth presently at large on a number of conditions in relation a previous condition for mischief.
Police gave chase but the youth stole a girl's bicycle from the area and took off again. Police later recovered the bicycle, and further investigation has determined his identity, and charges are pending. High River RCMP are looking for the owner of the stolen bicycle, and are asking for anyone in that area that is missing a bicycle to come forward and identify their property.
3 youths located deceased in Fox Lake
Fort Vermilion RCMP
On Monday, August 18th at 11:05 A.M., the body of a 15 year old youth was located and recovered in the Peace River and shortly afterwards at 1:20 P.M. the body of a 16 year old youth was located. All 3 bodies have now been recovered and the deaths were an accidental drowning. None of the youths were wearing life jackets and the bodies were recovered approx. 50 feet from the incident location. Fort Vermilion RCMP will not be releasing the names of the 3 deceased youths.
Fort Vermilion RCMP would like to thank the community of Fox Lake, La Crete and Fort Vermilion FIRE, Search and Rescue Volunteers, Canadian Rangers, Alberta Fish and Wildlife, Alberta Sustainable Resources Department (SRD) and numerous others individuals that volunteered their time to assist the RCMP in this incident.
Three Hills man charged with sexual assaults

Following an incident with occurred on August 17, 2014, Renie GALL, a 33 year old man from Three Hills, Alberta, has been charged with one count of Break and enter under section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code, six counts of Sexual Assault under section 271 of the Criminal Code and one count of Theft under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code.
GALL was remanded in custody to appear in Drumheller Provincial Court on August 22, 2014 at 10:00 am.
GALL has also been charged with one count of Break and Enter on an unrelated matter.
Officers would like to thank the public for their support and assistance during this matter.
Background: During the early morning hours of August 17, 2014 an unknown male suspect broke into the student dormitories at the Prairie Bible Institute located in Three Hills, Alberta. It is alleged that when inside, the suspect sexually assaulted several students in their dorm rooms before exiting the building and leaving on a bicycle.
Stolen vehicle involved in police chase
Peace River RCMP
A nineteen year old male has been charged with several offences after stealing a truck and leading police on a chase in Peace River early morning Monday, August 18th, 2014.
Around 6:00am police were dispatched to a call when they came across a black truck driving south on 98th Street in the northbound lane. Police tried to stop the truck, but the driver would not pull over and led police across the bridge and up the west hill, through a field, and back down the west hill. During this incident the suspect truck drove very erratic, even swerving at several other vehicles in the oncoming traffic lane. A number of vehicles had to pull over to avoid being hit by the truck. Three other vehicles and a police car sustained damage during the incident.
The truck’s journey ended when it drove into the ditch near Township road 842 and Range Road 201. The male driver, and lone passenger in the vehicle, was arrested without incident or injury. The police dog section and traffic analyst were called out to assist in this incident.
Freemin CARIFELLE, has been charged with: Dangerous driving, assault with a weapon, 2 counts of failing to stop at the scene of an accident, 4 counts of mischief, flight from peace officer, impaired operation of a motor vehicle, refusal to provide a breath sample, possession of property obtained by crime, assault, driving without a licence and running a red light.

Break and enter to residence near Maire Raine
Peace Regional RCMP
Peace Regional RCMP are investigating a theft of a firearm and hunting bow from a residence west of Marie Reine on Township Road 820. The break and enter was believed to have happened on August 14th. 2014, sometime between 12:00 pm and 3:30 pm. Several items were taken, including a Weatherby 340 Magnum bolt action hunting rifle and a Holt Carbon Spyder Hunting Bow.
Grande Prairie RCMP
This morning at approximately 9:30 am. Grande Prairie RCMP and other emergencies responders were called to Highway 43 and Range Road 10, near Debolt, in response to a pedestrian that was struck by a semi-truck. The female pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene by emergency responders. Initial reports are that the pedestrian was attempting to cross the highway when she was struck. The deceased is an adult woman from the Debolt area.
Highway 43 has since reopened. The deceased female has been identified as 65 year old Noreen Perkins of Debolt. The exact cause of the incident is still under investigation. However, drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been a factor.
Suitcase found near Edson
Hinton RCMP
On Friday August 15th 2014, Hinton RCMP took a complaint of a found suitcase that was recovered on Highway 16, West of Edson in the Eastbound lanes.
The suitcase, found wrapped in black garbage bag material, is described as a small rolling unit of black cloth-material featuring the “Forecast” name brand. Contents included boys’ clothing, a child's DVD and a photo of an unknown woman and a small boy. No contact information was found in or on the suitcase.

Thefts in Brooks

Brooks RCMP are currently investigating several thefts that occurred over the weekend of August 16 to August 18, 2014. On August 18, 2014 police received a complaint of a stolen Ford F250 truck and a stolen cargo trailer from two separate businesses in the industrial area of Brooks. Also on August 18 another complaint was received of the theft of 6 ATV’s from a business in Brooks. The value of the stolen ATV’s is estimated at $70,000. All of the thefts are believed to be related.

During the summer months Red Deer RCMP respond to numerous reports of children being left unattended in vehicles. During the extreme heat throughout the summer, Red Deer RCMP ask the public to be extra vigilant in reporting incidents of children who have been left unattended in vehicles without a caregiver within sight or hearing range.
Red Deer RCMP take reports of unattended children in vehicles very seriously; consequences could include Criminal Code charges and investigations by Child and Family Services.

Beaverlodge shoplifter facing drug and weapons charges
Grande Prairie RCMP
A 39 year old male from Grande Prairie is facing charges of theft, along with a number of weapons and drug related charges after allegedly shoplifting from a Beaverlodge grocery store.
On August 15, at approximately 12:15 p.m. Beaverlodge RCMP responded to a complaint of a shoplifter at a local Beaverlodge grocery store. A description of the suspect vehicle, a 2008 silver Dodge Avenger, was obtained and later in the afternoon a vehicle matching the description was stopped on the bypass in Grande Prairie. The driver and a female passenger were arrested for the earlier theft without incident. A further investigation revealed that the suspect was in possession of cash, suspected illegal drugs, and prohibited weapons.
Robert FULK, a 39 year old male from Grande Prairie has been charged with 22 offences. These include: trafficking a prohibited substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, 3 counts of possession of a controlled, 5 counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon, 5 counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of property obtained by crime, theft under $5000 and 5 counts of possessing a weapon contrary to an order. The accused did not speak to bail and has been remanded. He will next appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on August 27, 2014. The female was released without charges.
