Brant Irwin is Acting Manager of the Pincher Creek UFA Farm and Ranch Supply store. Greg and Angela Walter are the local UFA Petroleum Agents, which is a franchise style of ownership. They met with local Ag Society President Janet Watmough earlier today, June 11. Angela Walter explained. "We are presenting the Pincher Creek and District Agricultural Society with a $1,000 cheque today in appreciation for Farmers Day," she said. "It used to be a Provincial holiday, all the farmers would get the day off and meet in town, and have a get-together. UFA still celebrates that, so they give us money to give, and we decided it should go here"
"It's our 6th anniversary in Pincher Creek, as well," added Greg Walter. "We are very happy to be here." Janet Watmough explained how the donation could be doubled. "If we don't designate it for anything, the government matches it. Last year they (UFA) gave $1,000... and then the government matched it."
"This year, it's same thing, there's no strings attached, it means the government will match it," said Greg.
"We're so lucky to have great community supporters like UFA," said Watmough. She said the Ag Society does have some dreams/plans for the future. "We are trying to get a grant to get more mezzanine, more seating area in the indoor arena for events. That's been top of our list for quite a few years."
