Crestview Highlights, April and May 2014

By the Residents at Crestview Lodge

May 2014

May was a fun filled month. We had the Children’s Discovery day. Groups come in and see what we do here. Together we played Shuffle bowling and made some necklaces with washers and nail polish. It was great fun to have these kids come in to play with us.

The Canyon Children’s Choir were absolutely wonderful. They sang beautifully and were so well behaved, it was a wonderful treat for us to listen to them. We do hope to hear them again soon.

During our Seniors Luncheon we had 6 people from our community come join us for a delicious homemade dinner. We do look forward to visiting with those who come in, since we don’t get to see them as often as we would like. It is always a great visit.

Mother’s day was in a couple of parts. First the residents were given carnations to show our appreciation from Crestview Staff. The next day the seniors were serenaded by Chris Davis as an extra treat. Chris was absolutely wonderful at playing all our favorite old time songs that we love.

On the 20th Farley Wuth took us on an adventure! He took us on a historical bus tour around the Beaver Mines area. That sure brought back memories and laughter. It was a truly enjoyable afternoon that we will not forget soon. The Beaver Mines Store were so friendly with helping us into the store and serving us up some very good ice cream. Thank you Ladies of the Beaver Mines Store for making our stop warm and welcoming!

The next day we surprised our favorite evening staff Lynn Dalke with a special retirement presentation from the residents. Lots of laughter and tears, we sure miss her lots and can’t wait to see her again when she comes back to volunteer with us from time to time.

On the 28th Vista came to have coffee with us here at Crestview. About 6 residents came out for the visit and boy did we visit. We had a great time reminiscing and laughing together. It really is great to see friends we don’t get to see often enough.

That evening we had our Birthday Party. We had Brian DeLinte, his daughter Eve and Bob O’Brien come play for us. We were enchanted by Eve’s voice. She sang so beautifully. Listening to them play it was like being with family during a down home jam session. We do hope we get to hear them again soon.

Our Pub Night at the end of the month was with one of our favorite singers, Bob Davis. He always has us singing and toe tapping. We could listen to him for hours and we almost did! He kept playing and we were not going to say stop..lol..Needless to say it was probably one of our longest pub night parties in a very long time. Thanks Bob for a great night!

Everyone take care!

April 2014

Greetings from Crestview Lodge,

Wow we did have a great Volunteer week here at Crestview. Together we worked at getting center pieces done, as well as making the solid potpourri as gifts for our Volunteer Tea. Our choir practiced so hard and wow, did all that work pay off. During our Tea the choir sang so beautifully, that we could not help but feel treated to such a wonderful program of songs. The Administration staff helped out by wearing wings and blowing bubbles while the choir sang to our volunteers. What a giggle to watch the ladies blow bubbles.

We would also love to give a BIG THANK YOU! To all our local restaurants that so generously donated gift certificates for our volunteers. So thank you to…Boston Pizza, Tim Hortons, The Grill, Heritage Inn, Celestial Sweets, Antonio’s Pizza, Mrs. P’s, Twin Butte General Store, The Legion, The Bright Pearl and last but not least, the Harvest coffeehouse who also gave us 3 gift baskets for door prizes. These were all such a great gifts that we gladly gave out on your behalf to spoil our volunteers, who do so very much for our residents here at Crestview.

Again a BIG THANK YOU! To our volunteers, we could not do it without your time and kindness here at Crestview Lodge.

Take care and Bless you all for all your support!
