Matthew Halton School's Senior Boys Hawks basketball team hosted Livingstone's Sabres on Wednesday evening, January 15. Despite a fair bit of back and forth, the Sabres were clearly dominant throughout, both offensively and defensively, winning the game 89-46.
The Sabres play a tight, controlled game, and demonstrated their ability to line up successful play after successful play, including many effective long passes to a man alone at the opposing net. The Hawks are showing definite improvement over the course of this shortened season, and they play with a relentlessly unbridled enthusiasm, but had little luck making headway against the disciplined Sabres zone defence and relentless offence.

The Sabres host Piikani's Redskins tonight, January 15, at Livingstone School. Junior games start at 4:30 with the Senior match scheduled for 6:00 pm. That may turn out to be a very interesting contest, as the Redskins have demonstrated themselves to be a very strong team as well, albeit with a much different playing style than the Sabres.
