Parent Link Family Centre began a Youth Music Project on Wednesday, January 15. This pilot project is being ran by David Strong, who has been involved with music for over 25 years. Strong is donating the use of his equipment and expertise Wednesday evenings until February 5. The project is designed for kids in middle school or high school.
"I would like to focus on one project a night," said Strong. Using programs including GarageBand and Reason by Propellerhead, Strong is willing to help young people create a finished song that they can put up on YouTube, iTunes, or Sound Cloud. Strong is providing the basic equipment for a rock band, including keyboards, drum kit, bass and electric guitar. "I can help them take it from a basic idea, flesh it out to a song, record and mix it."
The project is not limited to one genre of music, and Strong is willing to work with bands or individuals that want to express their creativity and experience the pride of putting out a finished product. "Once the kids do it, they will love it."
