High River businesses coming back to life

Gazette Grande

High River Town Council approved the development of a temporary business park. The new park will be located on the CP rail right-of-way on Centre St between 6th and 7th avenues. Over 170 businesses have responded to the call and will be located in this temporary location. The Sprung structure is expected to begin taking shape in a couple of weeks.

In the meantime you can visit the Town of High River page to see what businesses are open and if they are in alternative locations. Evelyn’s is serving up good food in their original location downtown.

There is good news about the Whistle Stop cafe in the train dining car beside the Museum: the Town has “sold” it to Duane and Patty Johnson for $1 and will be doing the renovations on it, too. This much-loved restaurant will reopen!

The Town offices will be housed in a temporary Sprung structure soon and there is a warehouse almost completed near the Co-op. There will also be a temporary fire hall in the NW to be accessible to everyone on that side of the bridge and also to service the Saddlebrook community. They will also have Atco trailers to house the extra firefighters that will be manning this station.
