Pincher Creek's Girl Guides held a Strawberry Tea at the old Field Store location in the Ranchland Mall on the evening of Monday, April 29.  Every level of Girl Guides was represented.  They gathered and celebrated with exuberance.

Girl Guides are all ages.   Sparks are 5 - 6 years, Brownies are 7 - 8 years, Guides are 9 - 12 years, Pathfinders are 12 - 15, and Rangers are 15 - 17 years old.

They all served guests, cleaned up, fund raised, visited, and had fun.  This year  Girl Guides of Alberta is celebrating 100 years.  There was even an enthusiastic sing along to razzle-dazzle the crowd.

"One of the biggest things they get out of being in Guides is I think that they become courageous leaders," said Tracy Burton, who has been involved in Guides for 26 years, since she was a young child.

Sing-along in progress
Burton is a Leader with the local Guides.  She talked about how the children learn skills and social development through play, programs, activities and interaction.    Burton was excited that Guides will be starting a unit in the Crowsnest Pass in the fall.  She encourages anyone who is interested in joining or volunteering to visit www.girlguides.ca where information about unit placement, volunteering, history and the purpose of the guides can be found.
