Chickens, turkeys and sheep arrived at Pincher Creek's Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village during a snow storm on April 29, 2013.

The chickens are beautiful and have already resumed their egg laying. The colorful birds are the following breeds:
Barred Plymouth Rock
Buff Orpington
Black Cochin
Americana
Speckled Sussex
Silver Grey Dorking.

As their names suggest, they are beautiful, colorful birds.

The turkeys are Slate turkeys, a heritage breed. They are just settling in to their new roost.

Many of you will remember Clover, our ewe from last year. This year she is back with her first baby, Paddy. Paddy was born on St. Patrick’s day. He is a little darling and once he gets settled, he’s sure to be a favorite of the Village.

Kootenai Brown begins its summer hours on the May long weekend, and is open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm daily.  Come and see the new arrivals and our friends from last year.

The chickens are turkeys are donated by Laurel and Robert. The sheep are donated by Sandy Sharp. Zorattii Ranches and Sproule Agro graciously donate the hay and grain each year. Also, the Pincher Creek Co-op is so good to all the animals. Please be sure to thank them for their generosity to Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village.
