Shawn Hammond won the Award of Excellence for the Junior Entrepreneur category at the recent business awards event hosted by the Pincher Creek and District Chamber of Commerce. He has started his own organic egg production business. "I started last Christmas," he said. He personally researched what type of chickens he wanted to use, and he compares prices at grocery stores to keep competitive. Every day he feeds and waters the chickens, gathers the eggs, and washes them. Hammond contacts his customers to see to their needs. Before the award ceremony he said "If I win, I'll be really happy."
This 8 year old grade three student is a serious minded businessman, which he displayed by ending his acceptance speech at the awards ceremony by letting everyone know he had some eggs in stock and on hand for sale.
Congratulations to this young entrepreneur.
