New RCMP Detachment Commander for Pincher Creek

Toni Lucas, Pincher Creek Voice

Sergeant Joe Brown was appointed Detachment Commander of the Pincher Creek RCMP as of July 25, 2012.  This is an interim position and lateral transfer for Sgt. Brown, who has become quite familiar with the Pincher Creek area during his 20 years with the RCMP.

"I came here in 2000 as a Constable to the Piikani detachment.  In 2005.  I was promoted out there as a  Corporal," he said.  "In May of 2007 I came into Pincher Creek as a Corporal.  In June of 2007 I took command of the Pincher Creek detachment,"  explained Brown.  "I went to Blood tribe for 6 months, and my last day there I was promoted to Sargent in charge of Piikani  detachment, so I've been in Piikani for two years as the commander there. I've come over here as of Wednesday to take command here."

Regarding the move to Pincher Creek, Sgt. Brown said that "We've always had a close relationship, same with the Crowsnest Pass.  The three detachments work quite closely together on quite a few of the investigations."

"I've been lucky.  Twelve years down here, two promotions."
