^ For four days in late July members of various southern Alberta firefighting associations practiced the S600 driving training as part of the NFPA 1002 standardized course under the guiding eye of Pincher Creek Fire Chief Dave Cox.  The course is designed to teach firefighters the standards of operating a fire engine, so that they are equipped to operate any fire engine they need to handle.  These same courses are taken all over southern Alberta, with a schedule set at the start of the year, and are all done on volunteer time.
