Flood risk closes some provincial parks


Due to heavy rainfall and high water levels, a number of provincial parks and recreation areas/trails are closed until further notice due to flood risk. The areas in Kananaskis Country include:

  • Bow River Campground
  • Three Sisters Campground
  • Porcupine Group Campground
  • Heart Creek Day Use Area
  • Grassi Lakes Trails
  • Fallen Timber Provincial Recreation Area

Travel is also not recommended for the following trails adjacent to the area:

  • Cougar Creek Trail
  • Grotto Canyon Trail
  • Heart Creek Trail

Within the west central part of the province the following areas are closed:

  • Red Lodge Provincial Park
  • Crescent Falls Provincial Recreation Area

Information about the closures is posted online at www.albertaparks.ca Albertans and visitors will not be allowed into these areas until the flood risk subsides. Campers with reservations at these campgrounds are being notified and refunds will be issued.
