Toni Lucas, Pincher Creek Voice

Update:  The runners will be joined by Napi Outreach School students, and Buffalo Runners, then continue on to The Napi Friendship Center.

The World Harmony Run will be coming to Pincher Creek today, Friday May 4 and are expected to travel down Highway 3 and arrive at St. Michael's School Napi Outreach Center at approximately 12:45 pm.

On the 25th anniversary of this run that started in 1987, the group of runners that started in Tofino B.C. on April 20 will be starting out their morning in Fernie, B.C.  The run will carry on through Canada to St John’s, Newfoundland.

As a symbol of harmony, the runners carry a flaming torch, passing it from hand to hand.  This torch will  travel through over 100 nations around the globe, and 2700 km across Canada over 36 days.

Founder of the run, Sri Chinmoy was seeking to promote international friendship and understanding.  The current group of runners for the Canadian leg of the journey include runners from Ottawa, New York City, Ukraine, Yellowknife, Calgary, Slovakia, Vancouver, and the Czech Republic.
