It was chilly and a bit damp on the evening of Thursday, May 3 when the Pincher Creek and Sparwood U16 Soccer teams took to the Matthew Halton School field.

It was the first game of the season for the Pincher Creek team.

The Sparwood team proved to be quite competitive, leading 2-1 at the half and ultimately defeating Pincher Creek 6-2.

Pincher Coach James Freeman was pragmatic about the game.  "We had a number of positives," he said. "We had great goaltending, and I thought our defence played fairly well.   We've got to work on our passing and we'll be there I'm sure next game."

The Pincher Creek U16 team is scheduled to play their next home game, at the Halton field, on Thursday, May 17.
