Local girls rugby players traveled to Edmonton last weekend.  On Friday, May 4 they took part in the Pirates 7s tournament, which is just 7 on 7 rugby.  Pincher Creek had a Junior and a Senior team entered.  The Junior team went 2 and 1, finishing 7th out of 16 teams, and the Senior team went 1 and 2, finishing 10th out of 16.

On Saturday, May 5 before coming home the Hawks played an exhibition game against M.E Lazarette from Edmonton.  The game started slowly, but once the Hawks got their legs under them they cruised to a 22-0 victory.   Alyssa Barbero scored 2 tries and a convert, and Megan Albert and Veronica Oczkowski scored 1 try each.

Tonight, May 9 the Hawks travelled to Lethbridge to take on Catholic Central.  It was a windy game, but the Hawks were able to handle the wind, and beat Catholic Central 32-5.  Emma Lowry scored 2 tries. Alyssa Barbero, Jayden Kennedy, and Dakota Van Loon each had a try, and Veronica Oczkowski had a try and a convert.  The Hawks are now 2 and 3 in league play.

Upcoming games:
Next up, the Hawks will travel this weekend to Drayton Valley to take part in a tournament, and then they have a big home game against Vulcan here in Pincher Creek on Wednesday, May 16 at Sproule Field, with a 5 pm kickoff.
