- This will be the Province of Alberta's 28th General Election.
- The election will be held on Monday, April 23.
- There are 2.265 million electors on the Alberta list of electors.
- A Senate nominee election will be held concurrently to select three nominees for appointment to the Senate of Canada. Alberta is the only province that elects their Senate nominees.
- Voter turnout in the last Provincial Election, held in 2008, was an average of 40.6% province-wide. It was the lowest voter turnout in Alberta's history.
- The Progressive Conservative Party dominated the 2008 election, winning 72 seats of 83, an increase of 20%, and 52.7% of the popular vote.
- Livingstone-Macleod Progressive Conservative candidate Evan Berger won the riding by a 64% of the popular vote in the 2008 election, winning at 58 of 60 polling stations.
- The Livingstone-Macleod riding boundaries have changed significantly since the last election. A great deal of land south of High River has been added. The Blood Reserve has been removed from Livingstone-Macleod and added to Cardston-Taber-Warner.
