Accidental death at Castle Mountain

At approximately 3:00 pm today (February 4, 2012) a male approximately 30 years old lost control and slid into a ditch on a run called Buffalo Flats.  The male succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased at the resort.

The male was wearing a helmet and a chest protector. It was reported that he was snowboarding at relatively high speed and he tried to avoid other people on the slopes.  He lost control and slid into a ditch where he impacted with a stump off the side of the run.

Castle Mountain Resort would like to pass on their condolences to the family and friends off the male and ask everyone to respect their privacy.   RCMP will be doing a full investigation of the incident.
