Fortis repair crews were kept busy last night after numerous weather-related power outages in southern Alberta. According to Fortis representative Jennifer MacGowan power was out to 2,800 customers in the Pincher Creek area starting just after at 10:00 pm. "The majority of customers were restored at 11:00 pm and several more customers were restored by 1:30 am through feeding them off an alternate line, while repairs were made behind the scenes," MacGowan said via email. "We did have 12 customers off overnight due to the extensive repairs that have to be made. They will be restored today."

"Our power line technicians stayed out until they could make the most repairs to restore as many customers as possible. The cause was a combination of lines icing and lines that came down due to the extreme weather conditions. One of our employees said they would find a repair to make and kept finding more repairs due to multiple lines coming down. Usually we have icing or lines down but it is a unique situation to have both happen at once."
