On October 6, 2014 at approximately 3:20 p.m. RCMP received a complaint of an erratic driver northbound on Highway 2. RCMP located the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop the erratic driver. The driver did not stop and fled from police. It is believed that a short time later the suspect vehicle collided with a truck and located a short time later in a ditch near Cayley, Alberta. The lone male driver was arrested without incident. No one was injured in the collision.
The matter is still under investigation and charges are pending. However, alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident. An adult male from Calgary is facing a number of charges including impaired driving, drive with a blood alcohol concentration over .08, dangerous driving, criminal hit and run and flight from police.
On the morning of October 6, 2014, the Fort Chipewyan RCMP were notified of three brothers who were overdue from their boating trip. The three males departed Prairie River in the afternoon on Saturday October 4, 2014, in their boat and headed to Lake Clair, which is situated southwest of Fort Chipewyan. They were due to return that evening. Wood Buffalo RCMP in partnership with Parks Canada, Environment Canada and the Forestry in Fort Chipewyan conducted joint land and water shoreline searches in an attempt to locate the males.
Wood Buffalo RCMP reports the three overdue travellers were located on the north side of Lake Clair within the search area at approximately 4:30 pm the same day. A fixed wing air plane involved in the search from Fort Smith located three males waving their arms. A float helicopter was dispatched to the location and picked up the individuals. Police were able to confirm the identities of the three who appeared to be in good health when they were picked up.
The boat had apparently run out of fuel and drifted to the north side of the lake. All three brothers have been united with their family

The Calgary Police Service continues to investigate a homicide that occurred on the weekend.
On Saturday, October 4, 2014 at approximately 9:50 am emergency personnel responded to reports of a man shot in the 300 block of Manora Cr. N.E. Upon arrival, first responders located the man and transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
It is believed the man had left his residence and was in the back alley when he was shot. While suspects have not been identified, it is believed this was a targeted attack.
The autopsy will not be completed until Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014. However, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has identified the victim as Jason Quinn ANTONIO, 39, of Calgary.
This is Calgary’s 27th homicide of 2014.
Several minutes after the homicide occurred, it was reported that shots were fired at nearby houses on Maidstone Crescent NE. While it was initially believed a bullet entered one home, and another was lodged in a second residence, investigators have confirmed that only the first home was affected, and the second home had a pre-existing hole, not caused by a bullet. Investigators are working to determine whether the damage to the first home is related to the homicide. Further ballistic testing must be completed before this is confirmed.
Anyone with information on this homicide is asked to call police at 403-266-1234, the Homicide Unit tip line at 403-428-8877 or Crime Stoppers anonymously using any of the following methods:
