Semi involved in fatal collision sought
Leduc RCMP
On Oct. 6th, 2014, at approximately 6:00 a.m., RCMP Leduc Integrated Traffic Unit received a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a Honda Civic and another unknown vehicle on the QEII Highway in the south-bound lanes, just north of the Highway 616 overpass. Upon arrival, police observed that the Civic had sustained extensive front-end damage. The driver of the car, a 29-year-old male from Edmonton, was transported to hospital with extensive injuries, and passed away shortly thereafter.
RCMP investigators believe the car struck a stopped or slow-moving truck tractor and semi-trailer, and that driver of the truck either didn't notice or chose not to stop after the truck he/she was driving was struck.
The damage caused to the car in the collision is consistent with all characteristics of an Arne’s gravel end-dump semi-trailer. It is believed the semi-trailer is either in a tandem or tridem axle configuration, and has a red frame. Part of an Arne’s mud guard, believed to be from the rear of the truck tractor and semi-trailer, was also found at the scene of the collision.
Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the truck tractor semi-trailer that may have been involved and are asking any witnesses to the collision to please come forward.
If you have information about this, or any other investigation(s), please contact the Leduc RCMP at 780-980-7200, or if you want to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1.800.222.8477 (TIPS), by internet at www.tipsubmit.com, or by SMS (check your local Crime Stoppers [www.crimestoppers.ab.ca] for instructions on how to do). You do not have to reveal your identity to Crime Stoppers, and if you provide information to Crime Stoppers that leads to an arrest(s), you may be eligible for a cash reward.
Photos of a similar vehicle to the one being sought are attached below. A photo of the piece mud flap found at the scene is also attached below.
Lethbridge Regional Police have charged a 23-year-old man following a stabbing Saturday afternoon.

The victim was transported to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Following further investigation the suspect was located and arrested a short time later. This incident was the result of a dispute and not a random crime.
Carson Luke Small Eyes, 23, of Cardston, is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of an offensive weapon. Small Eyes was remanded in custody to appear in court yesterday.

Reminder to drivers to yield to emergency vehicles
Grande Prairie RCMP would like to remind drivers to be cognizant of Emergency Response Vehicles that have their flashing lights and sirens activated.
When being approached by Emergency Response Vehicles (Police, Fire and Ambulance) that have their lights and sirens activated, it is required, by law, that drivers pull over to the side of the road, yield and allow the emergency vehicle(s) to pass by safely. Failure to do so could result in a $172 ticket. Under the Use of Highway and Rules of the Road Regulation Section 65(1) it states that it is an offence when an emergency vehicle has it's lights and/or sirens activated to "Fail to yield right of way or pull motor vehicle over the right side of road, stop and remain stopped until emergency vehicle has passed''.
Please remember that failing to allow emergency vehicles could cause an increase in response time to emergencies.
