Fort Macleod RCMP
Sometime between 3:45 pm and 5:00 pm on August 1st, 2014 the fuel tank of a 2005 Chevrolet Uplander was damaged in the attempt to steal gasoline of the parked vehicle. The owner came out to notice a small pool of gasoline under the vehicle and upon a mechanic’s inspection found the tank filling pipe was ruptured. This offence occurred in the parking lot of the Buffalo Jump Historical Site in Fort Macleod. The incident appears to be an isolated act of vandalism.
The Fort Macleod RCMP is investigating this incident as a mischief and are seeking public assistance in identifying any suspects. Airdrie theft suspect sought
Airdrie RCMP are seeking assistance from the public to identify a suspect in a theft from the Towerlane Mall Shopper’s Drug Mart.
On September 6th, 2014 in the afternoon, a male entered the Towerlane Shopper’s Drug Mart. The male collected a number razors and electric toothbrushes, placed them in a backpack and departed the store.

Armed robbery in Red Deer
Red Deer RCMP
On September 15 at approximately 10 pm, Red Deer RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery at Run’n on Empty, a convenience store located at 100 Kent Street in the Kentwood neighbourhood in Red Deer. A lone man entered the business, brandished a knife and threatened staff while demanding money and cigarettes from them. The suspect left through the front door carrying a white plastic bag that held an undisclosed amount of cash, about 15 packages of Du Maurier King Size cigarettes and various other items. Police Dog Services attended to assist RCMP members in searching the area but the suspect has not yet been located. No one was injured during the robbery, and RCMP are investigating any commonalities between this and other robberies.

Attempted fraud in Airdrie
Airdrie RCMP are seeking assistance from the public to identify a suspect in a attempted fraud at the Market Street Shopper’s Drug Mart.
On September 12th, 2014 at approximately 1230 p.m., a male entered the Market Street Shopper’s Drug Mart. The male selected a video game system and attempted to pay with a fraudulent credit card.
As the store clerk attempted to verify the card, the male departed, leaving the game system and credit card behind.

Teen charged in Coaldale home invasion
Lethbridge Regional Police have charged an 18-year-old man in connection with a home invasion late Tuesday night in Coaldale.
On Sept. 16, 2014 at approximately 11:48 p.m. police responded to a report of a break and enter in progress after three masked subjects entered a home along the 900 block of 21 Avenue and confronted the occupants. One of the subjects discharged pepper spray and assaulted a 23-year-old male occupant with a bat. The victim was able to overcome the assault and ultimately held his assailant until police arrived. The two other subjects fled the home prior to police arrival. K-9 Teams attended and conducted a track of the area, but a search for the two subjects was negative.
An 18-year-old man was arrested at the scene and police seized pepper spray, a bat and other break-in tools. Investigation has determined this incident was drug-related and not a random crime.
The investigation is ongoing to locate two outstanding male subjects.
Jake Jesse Blazek, 18, of Coaldale, is charged with house breaking and commit robbery, disguised with intent, possession of an offensive weapon and two counts of assault with a weapon. Blazek was remanded to appear in court yesterday.
Large tire theft in Cochrane

On September 14th 2014 at approximately 0430 am two males driving a large white cube truck accessed the Cochrane Canadian Tire. Once inside, the males removed approximately 195 tires. These tires consist of Hankook, Motormaster (Motomaster), and Michelin, brands and are mostly winter tires. Suspect 1 is described as a Caucasian male 40 to 50 years old, slender tall build, short dark hair possibly starting to grey on the sides. Suspect 2 is described as a Caucasian male 40-50 years old, heavy set tall build with very short hair.
The public is asked to report any suspicious activity involving individuals attempting to sell these types of tires.

Quad theft in Ft. Vermilion
Fort Vermilion RCMP is currently investigating a theft of a 2007 Polaris X2 800CC ATV. The ATV is dark blue in colour with a 2 up seat and had a snow plow attached which may or may not be still attached. The quad was stolen off a rural property at 3:00am on September 17, 2014 near the Rocky Lane Dump. The suspects fled down a trail that leads out towards the Ponton River Bridge.

RCMP are asking the public to keep an eye open for this vehicle. The public are asked to report anyone who is selling a similar ATV, and for the public to use caution if buying a similar type ATV. The public can always call the RCMP with VIN numbers to check into this if they are suspicious.

B&E in Ft. Vermilion
Fort Vermilion RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in solving a crime in which the Rocky Lane Waste Transfer was broken into. Sometime between September 13, 2014 to the morning of September 17, 2014 suspects crawled underneath the gate, and broke into the guard shack. The door was kicked in, and A TV and VCR were thrown through the window. The inside was trashed and spray painted, and a fire extinguisher was discharged. Several alcohol containers were left all around and a very clear footprint was left on the door. Several vehicle batteries were also stolen.

As a result of recent investigations by the Grande Prairie RCMP's Crime Reduction Unit and General Investigation Section, a variety of drugs have been taken off the streets, a number of people arrested and 3 people are now facing a number of drug related charges.
On September 6, 2014, plain clothes RCMP officer were at a local hotel where they located and arrested 31 year old Michael CURRIE of Grande Prairie on outstanding warrants. When CURRIE was arrested by police, he was found in possession of what is believed to be 2 oz of meth, 3.6 g of heroin and an undisclosed amount of cash. CURRIE was charged with 2 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. He was released on $5000 cash bail.
While police were in the process of arresting CURRIE, the same investigating police officers observed what they believed to be a drug transaction take place directly in front of them. Police entered into a new drug investigation and seized over 1 oz of what is believed to be cocaine and an undisclosed amount of cash. 43 year old Walter CAMERON of Grande Prairie has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime and 3 counts of breaching a recognizance. CAMERON, who was bound by a recognizance out of Calgary at the time of his arrest, has been remanded into custody.
On September 16, 2014, plain clothes members arrested a 23 year old female from Grande Prairie during an investigation into drug trafficking. The female was found in possession of what is suspected to be nearly 5 oz of cocaine, 1 oz of meth, 74 Fentynal pills and approximately $3000 cash. She will be formally charged later today and released on $6000 cash bail.
The total street value for the drugs seized is $28,000. All will appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on later dates. Grande Prairie RCMP believe that those who traffic in illicit drugs destroy lives, homes, and communities. The RCMP remains fully committed in building “safe and secure communities” and enforcing laws to their fullest extent, in order to achieve this goal.
Update on accidental shooting
RCMP have learned the 6 year old boy who was shot two days ago at his parents farm near Beiseker is expected to make a full recovery after being released from the hospital yesterday.
RCMP will be seeking the assistance of the Crown Prosecutors office to determine if charges are to be considered in this case.
Update on Amber Lucius homicide
The Alberta RCMP has completed the internal review of Amber Alert protocols in relation to the investigation into the death of 9 year-old Amber Lucius, whose body was found near Sundre on September 2.
The review indicates that the officers involved in this matter acted in compliance with Amber Alert protocols after the girl was reported missing to Wetaskiwin RCMP by her father Duane Lucius on August 31st.
Amber's mother, Laura Coward, has been charged with First Degree Murder in the death of her daughter and remains in custody pending her next court appearance in Didsbury court, on October 6, 2014.
Alleged Calgary fraudster charged
The Calgary Police Service has charged one man in connection with a fraud operation targeting elderly Calgarians in the community of Varsity.
CPS has received multiple reports of a man targeting seniors by befriending them and then gaining their trust. Eventually, the offender creates a false scenario in which his victims are convinced to provide their bank cards and corresponding PIN numbers, at which time fraudulent withdrawals are made.
Gregory DOKKEN, 39, of Calgary, is charged with seven counts of fraud and two counts of theft under $5,000.
The CPS Elder Abuse Response Team is aware and monitoring this situation.
The CPS is mindful of the potential for other victims of similar fraudulent activity and strongly urges victims to come forward with any information they have. All citizens are reminded of the importance of protecting personal information, including PIN numbers, at all times.
