On September 10, 2014 around 8:00 am, members of the Fox Creek RCMP, EMS and Fire Department responded to a complaint of a two vehicle head-on collision between a passenger car and a logging truck, on Highway 947 approximately 15 km South of Highway 43 near Fox Creek, Alberta. Once on scene it was determined the 25 year old driver and 19 year old passenger of the car were killed on impact, and the 56 year old semi driver suffered non life threatening injuries.
An RCMP Collision Analyst was consulted during the investigation, Speed and Winter Road Conditions are believed to be a factor. The RCMP are not releasing the name of the vehicle occupants at this time pending an on-going investigation. No charges have been laid in this incident.
This is a tragic reminder that winter driving conditions are upon us and appropriate precautions need to be taken when travelling this winter.
Armed robbery at liquor store in Okotoks
On 2014/09/10 at 21:46 hrs, the Okotoks RCMP were dispatched to a robbery complaint at the Econo Liquor located at 71 Riverside Drive. A male wearing a balaclava entered the store and pointed a black handgun at the clerk, demanding money. The male received an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot. A search was conducted with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services, but the suspect remains at large. The male clerk was unharmed.
The suspect is described as caucasian, 5'8, aged mid 20s, wearing all black.

At approximately 12:15 pm on September 11, 2014 Leduc RCMP became aware of threats directed to a local high school. Established response protocols were initiated and with the assistance of the school administration the school was put into a "hold and secure" situation. This action allowed the school day to continue with an elevated level of security, while police investigated the threats. The threats did not identify a target and were general in nature. No suspect(s )have been identified at this time.

Cochrane RCMP
When 23 year old Brody LEIMER went to work as a tow truck operator with Big Hill Towing in the early hours of September 8th little did he know that he would be starring front and center in what must have seemed like James Bond movie. Brody was called out to tow a vehicle that had broken down on Highway 1 near the Morley Reserve. As Brody hooked up the vehicle, had it raised and only partially secured he jumped into the vehicle to put it in neutral. Suddenly, to Brody's horror his tow truck began driving away with him inside the partially attached car. Brody soon realized that someone had stolen his tow truck.
Brody was left with few choices; jumping out of the moving car onto the highway, stay in the partially attached car and await his fate, or do what any super hero might do. Brody chose the latter. Brody exited the vehicle which was now traveling down the highway and jumped onto the hood. Tires popping from being dragged, sparks flying, Brody jumped from the vehicle onto his tow truck. He was able to climb to the passenger side of his truck and somehow managed to open the passenger door of the truck and swing inside. Brody then confront his nemesis a 20 year old male. Still traveling down the highway, Brody subdued the male and was able to get his truck stopped and toss the male out.
Police arrived and arrested Aaron OMEASOO- STEPHENS a short distance away. OMEASOO- STEPHENS has been charged with impaired driving, operate a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level exceeding .08, two counts of theft over $5000, and driving without a license. OMEASOO- STEPHENS has been released for court October 7th 2014.
Truck thieves nabbed in Medicine Hat

On September 10, 2014, at about 4:00 am police received a complaint of a suspicious truck in the Somerside residential area of Medicine Hat. Subsequently, three males were found in possession of a stolen 2008 Ford F350 pick-up truck. A search of the individuals has led police to believe that they are responsible for numerous unreported vehicle entries, likely in the Southridge area. Anyone with information or property missing is to contact police.
