Crestview Highlights for August 2014

Greetings from the Crestview Residents,

I believe that August was our busiest month by far. Starting on the 2nd we took in Heritage Acres Power Parade. What a terrific display of antique tractors, bikes and wagons. A must see to believe! We thoroughly enjoyed our day.

On the 13th we went on another bus tour with Farley Wuth. This time we drove around Cowley and the Ring Road. Farley sure knows his stuff.  Our own John S. Helped out with the Pincher Station stop. He helped identify where the hotel was located as Farley told us the history of the hotel. It was a great day for an informative drive in our very own back yard.

The 15th was a sad and enjoyable evening. We were very sad to have our Sharron Scott retire from Crestview. So the residents threw her a party! The band “Black Jacks” were our entertainment for the evening. Not only were they fabulous! We also had an ace up our sleeve to sweeten our party for Sharron. Our very own choir serenaded Sharron and wow what a moving moment that was. Tears of joy and sadness fell on everyone. Even the band was treated to the serenade and enjoyed our choir very much. Great job ladies!

The next day on the 16th, was our town’s Rodeo parade. The residents that were able to get on the bus, made it down to the Huddlestun Center so they could watch the parade. We won first prize for the MD float! Congrats to the residents. They did a fantastic job decorating our float. Our own Helen N. rode on the float with Charmaine’s youngest daughter Shaylena and her friend Vivian rode on the back of the float.

Nine residents from Whispering winds came to join us for coffee on the 20th. That was a very enjoyable afternoon. Our visitors were quite chatty and we all had great conversations. We did not want them to leave just yet. Hope to see you all again soon!

On the 21st was our annual Family BBQ. We greatly enjoyed a wide variety of delicious foods that the families brought with them for us all to indulge in. The residents made homemade patio lanterns for centerpieces. We also gave away 6 of the patio lanterns for door prizes as well as one larger basket as the final door Prize. All the residents would like to say a big thank you to the staff and volunteers for all their hard work. It wouldn’t have been as wonderful a dinner with out all you!

Next night was our birthday party. Our own Barb Lloyd came out to entertain us. We were excited to hear her play her accordion. That is one type of music we hardly ever get to hear anymore. It was a fun night to listen and sing along. Thanks Barb!

Twin Butte General Store was out next trip on the 27th. The staff are so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed coffee and some ice cream. The drive out and back was just warm and beautiful.

Vista Village came out to our Tranquility Park on the 28th for a marshmallow roast. It was getting cloudy and possibilities of a rain storm. We roasted marshmallows and made s’mores. Some residents had never had a s’more before. It was a fun OOWEY GOOWEY GOOD Time! The weather held out until the last resident had gone in. As I was cleaning up our park a big clap of thunder and we cleaned up in quick haste and made it inside before the down pour.

Last but definitely not least. Pub Night on the 29th. Bob Davis made it out to play for us. Gosh do we ever enjoy his playing. We would love to have him come out every month. Maybe we can twist his arm..lol. We did a lot of dancing and laughing, as Charmaine and Eunice one our evening staff danced a jive, which we laughed so hard at as they really didn’t know what they were doing. A really good night had by all.

TA TA For Now!
