On July 6th, 2014 at approximately 4:30 a.m. St. Albert RCMP responded to a Break & Enter in progress on Lester Crescent, St. Albert, Alberta. There were three adults and three teenagers asleep in the home when the homeowner was woken up by sounds of intruders. The homeowner confronted the intruders and an altercation then ensued. When police arrived the suspects had fled on foot and the homeowner was taken to hospital with undisclosed injuries sustained from the altercation. The homeowner was later released from hospital and no one else in the home was injured.
The RCMP Police Service Dog and Handler attended the scene but were not able to locate the suspects. A RCMP Police Sketch Artist created a sketch of one of the suspects that was in the home. RCMP are asking the public to call if they recognize the individual in the sketch or if they have any information relating to this disturbing event.
Descriptors of one of the suspects involved in the Break & Enter, where the home owner confronted suspects, on Lester Crescent, St. Albert, Alberta has now become available and are as follows:

Highway 63 has been reopened after being closed for a period of 8 hours yesterday when RCMP officers attended a 2 vehicle collision at kilometre marker 190.
Reports reveal that a pick-up truck driving north bound crossed the centre line resulting in a head on collision with a south bound gravel truck.
The driver of the pick-up, a 66 year old male from Ontario, was deceased upon police arrival. The driver of the gravel truck was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
Leduc RCMP received a 911 call at 7:49 am on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 of a serious motor vehicle collision involving a SUV and a motorcycle. Police, Fire and Ambulance services responded immediately. A head-on collision occurred resulting in the death of the motorcyclist. Highway 19 between Range Road 253 and 254 was re-routed for most of the morning as police and a collision analyst examined the scene.
The driver of the motorcycle, a 53 year old male resident of Edmonton, was found deceased on scene.
The driver of the SUV is a 24 year old female. She was taken by ground ambulance to the University of Alberta hospital with unknown injuries, where she remains as of 2:30 this afternoon. Charges against the SUV driver are pending on the outcome of the investigation.
"We wish to thank the public for their patience this morning on Highway 19 as we conducted our investigation." States Cst. CELMS of the Leduc RCMP. "We encourage all drivers to keep their attention on the road."
Drugs or alcohol are not believed to contributors to this collision.
Armed Robbery in Plamondon
On Saturday July 19, 2014 at approximately 11:30am Lac La Biche RCMP received a complaint regarding an armed robbery in Plamondon Alberta. RCMP were called to the Pelican Hotel located and staff advised that a male had entered the hotel office and demanded money from a female staff member.
The staff member, who was working alone in the office complied with the males direction and placed an undisclosed amount of cash in a bag that the suspect had given to her. The suspect then bound the female staff member to a chair in the office and put tape over her mouth. The suspect was in possession of what appeared to be a black handgun. The male suspect also stole the staff members vehicle from the location and Police recovered it a short distance later.
The male is believed to have been wearing a mask which altered his appearance.

Plamondon is located approximately 250 kilometres northeast of Edmonton Alberta.

Property damage in Fort Macleod
On July 2, 2014, the Fort Macleod RCMP received complaint of a damaged fence on 4th Avenue between 10th and 11th Street. The fence was driven into with a motor vehicle causing extensive damage to the fence then fled the scene.
The RCMP is investigating these incidents as a mischief and is seeking public assistance in identifying any suspects. Pedestrian seriously injured in Carstairs
On Sunday July 20, 2014 at 2:29 am Didsbury RCMP, Carstairs Fire and Provincial EMS were dispatched to a Pedestrian Motor Vehicle Collision on 10th Avenue in Carstairs, Alberta , just south of Idaho Street.
A 26 year old Crossfield man had been walking southbound down 10th Avenue, in the middle of the northbound lane. 10th Avenue is an undivided 2 lane road. A 30 year old Carstairs woman had been driving her small passenger car northbound on 10 Ave in the northbound lane. The driver of the car saw the pedestrian walking towards her in her lane at the last second, took evasive action and struck the man with the front passenger side corner and hood of her car. The force of the collision threw the man several meters north east into the east ditch along 10th Avenue.
CPR was performed on the pedestrian by both witnesses and Emergency Services. The man was transported by STARS Air Ambulance with severe head trauma and other injuries to the Foothills Hospital in Calgary.
It was a dark over cast night, having just rained, visibility was poor. The pedestrian was not wearing reflective clothing. The pedestrian had been observed by Witnesses to be intoxicated. Neither speed nor alcohol were not contributing factors for the Driver.
RCMP are continuing their investigation. Provincial charges are being considered, but are pending the outcome their investigation.
No charges in fatal Calgary pedestrian collision
The Calgary Police Service has concluded its investigation into a fatal pedestrian incident over the weekend and no charges will be laid.
Emergency crews were called to the 100 block of Saddlecrest Green N.E., around 11 p.m., for a report of a man in distress. The victim had reportedly been hit by a car, however, further investigation determined the man fell off the hood of the car after jumping on it.
It’s believed the victim threw himself on the hood of the car in an attempt to stop the driver from leaving a residence. He fell off and struck his head on the pavement, sustaining critical injuries. He died overnight.
As the driver in this case did not cause the incident, no charges will be laid. The victim and the driver are known to each other. Drugs and alcohol are not believed factors.
EPS Vice Section arrests 15
The Edmonton Police Service Vice Section conducted a two-night operation last week that resulted in a total of 15 individuals being arrested and 12 vehicles seized.
On July 16 and 17, 2014, EPS Vice Section detectives with the assistance of EPS Downtown Division and Northeast Division Neighbourhood Foot Patrol officers, conducted undercover operations in areas where there were community complaints regarding individuals driving around soliciting sex.
On Wednesday, July 16, 2014, EPS laid nine charges under the Criminal Code Section 213 (1)(c) communicate in public, two charges for breach of probation, two drug-related charges, and executed one immigration warrant. One of the accused was on a day-pass from Alberta Hospital and was returned to the facility. A total of six vehicles were seized that day. On Thursday, July 17, 2014, there were six charges for communicate in public, and six vehicles were seized.
“Typically with the warmer summer weather there are more people out cruising neighbourhoods for sex,” says Acting Staff Sergeant David Schening with the EPS Vice Section. “We know that this kind of traffic creates concerns regarding safety, crime and disorder in the community. Police will continue to focus enforcement on those who exploit the vulnerable, and will be out there with our community partners to offer support and exit strategies to sex workers as appropriate.”
Edmonton family asks for return of memorial necklace
The Edmonton Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in the search for a necklace that holds the final remains of a young boy who was tragically killed in a plane crash last year.
On Friday, July 18, 2014, Downtown Division Patrol officers responded to a report of an attempted theft of vehicle in the area of 113 Avenue and 86 Street. It was reported that a male broke into a red and black, 4-door Dodge Ram at approximately 9 a.m. After unsuccessfully attempting to start the vehicle, the suspect allegedly took a necklace and loose change from the truck, and travelled on foot through an alley to the north before heading east through a backyard.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, in his late teens or early twenties, with blonde, curly hair. He was seen wearing red and white shorts.
The necklace taken from the vehicle holds the ashes of Dawson Pentecost, a 9-year-old boy who passed away in a plane crash in Manitoba on Feb. 10, 2013. The necklace is a cremation pendant, which contains the boy’s final remains in a gold and silver cross with five crystals, and hangs on a silver chain. The cross is approximately 4 cm in height and 2 cm in width. Dawson’s parents, David and Crystal Pentecost, moved to Edmonton just two weeks ago and are devastated over the incident.
“It’s very likely that the thief had no idea about the tremendous sentimental value of this piece of jewelry,” says Const. Michael Roblin of Downtown Division. “The EPS asks the public to keep an eye out for this keepsake necklace and anyone with information about the incident is asked to come forward. It is our hope the necklace will be recovered and returned to its rightful owners, even if it is turned in anonymously.”

Aggravated Assault at Gregoire Lake Reserve
On Monday, July 21, 2014, shortly after midnight, Wood Buffalo RCMP received a call of a group of people fighting outside of a residence on Gregoire Lake Reserve.
Upon police arrival, 1 victim was located lying on the side of the road, severely beaten and unconscious. A second victim was identified and located at a nearby residence. Both victims were taken to hospital, where later the unconscious male was flown to Edmonton. 2 suspects were located shortly thereafter and arrested.
Spruce Grove traffic stop leads to violent foot chase
Early in the afternoon on July 21st, RCMP in Spruce Grove approached a vehicle parked near a convenience store on Calahoo road, believing that a male passenger had warrants for his arrest.
The man exited the vehicle and ran from police, despite being told repeatedly to stop. The foot chase crossed Highway 16-A twice, with police in pursuit.
At one point, two civilians attempted to assist police in apprehending this man. The suspect threatened to stab the first bystander, a woman from Edmonton.
Next, he threatened to stab a male bystander, pulling out a knife as he did so. Both civilians retreated and the suspect continued running. He jumped into the original vehicle, which drove off, and police apprehended the vehicle quickly.
The suspect was arrested with two bags of what is believed to be cocaine. The first was a large bag, and the second had several small "spit-balls", known to be a format utilized for selling.
24 year old Richard Gary Pariseau, of Wetaskiwin, is facing the following charges:
Pariseau has been remanded into custody, with his next court appearance being Wednesday, July 23rd in Stony Plain.
The female driver of the vehicle, 27 year old Dezarae Kazonay, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in a Schedule II substance (cocaine). She was released from custody and will appear in Stony Plain Court on August 20th.
"We are really fortunate that no one was injured during this violent incident", states Cpl. Colette Zazulak of the Spruce Grove/Stony Plain RCMP. "The relationship between drug trafficking and violence is well established, and in this instance the safety of two community members who happened to be in the area was jeopardized. Police are pleased to have Richard Pariseau off the streets".

Red Deer RCMP investigate impaired driving collision
At approximately 11:30 pm on July 21, Red Deer RCMP attended a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 30 Avenue and 55 Street in Red Deer. According to witnesses, a south-bound truck attempted to turn east onto 55 Street and collided with a north-bound car. Red Deer Fire and EMS also attended the scene; it was necessary for firefighters to remove the car door in order to free the driver. Two occupants of the car were transported to Red Deer Regional Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The third occupant of the car also had minor injuries. The driver of the truck was uninjured.
RCMP arrested the 25 year old female driver of the truck for impaired driving and took her into custody. RCMP continue to investigate this incident with the support of a collision analyst who attended and processed the scene. The suspect’s name and the charges against her will be released once the charges have been sworn before the courts.
Mischief charges at Peace Feast 2014
Two males have been charged after damage to equipment used during Peace Feast. Sometime over the night of July 15th, 2014, a telescoping boom truck was used to tip over a bobcat skidsteer at the 12 foot Davis Ball Park where crews were still cleaning up from the event.
Nineteen year old Traymin HARVEY and 18 year old Riley Crosby have both been charged with mischief to property over $5000. HARVEY was also charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle for the operation of the boom truck while intoxicated.
Both are set to appear in court in Peace River on August 25th, 2014.
Peace Regional RCMP would like to thank the concerned citizens for providing the information that led to charges in this file.
On July 17, ALERT (Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams), Police Dog Services and Red Deer RCMP executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence in the Kentwood neighbourhood in Red Deer. Police searched the residence and an associated truck, took three men into custody, and seized numerous controlled substances that had been packaged for resale.
Drugs seized included several grams of heroin, approximately 39 grams of cocaine (both cocaine HCl and "crack" cocaine), approximately 13 grams of methamphetamine, 15 Oxycodone tablets, approximately 500 ml of GHB (also known as the “date rape” drug), plus over a thousand assorted pills that have yet to be identified. Police also seized three canisters of mace/pepper spray, three replica firearms and over $3000 in cash that was seized as proceeds of crime. (See attached photo of items seized.)
Strathcona youth given free drug samples
Three men are facing multiple drug-related offences for allegedly providing free drug samples to youth in the Strathcona corridor on Wednesday, July 17 and Thursday July 18, 2014.
The three suspects are alleged to have canvassed and offered youth free drug samples of base cocaine in packages that included the accused’s contact information for potential future purchases. The alleged curb-side transactions were made from the window of a white Dodge Ram pick-up truck, while the accused were parked in Old Strathcona near 103 Street and 83 Avenue.
Charged with trafficking, possession for the purpose and living of the proceeds of crime are Jesse Levesque, 22, and Chris Hefford of Edmonton, 22, and Dan Friedrick, 25, of Spruce Grove.
Members from the EPS Old Scona Beats and Drug Undercover Street Team (DUST) partnered on the two-day initiative, July 17 and 18, 2014, which primarily focused its resources on identifying drug traffickers targeting youth in the area.

Charged with trafficking, possession for the purpose and living of the proceeds of crime are Jesse Levesque, 22, and Chris Hefford of Edmonton, 22, and Dan Friedrick, 25, of Spruce Grove.
Members from the EPS Old Scona Beats and Drug Undercover Street Team (DUST) partnered on the two-day initiative, July 17 and 18, 2014, which primarily focused its resources on identifying drug traffickers targeting youth in the area.
Vehicle fires in Red Deer
RCMP are investigating the arson of two vehicles that were parked in a back lane in the area of Ogden Avenue in Red Deer’s Oriole Park neighbourhood. At approximately 9:30 pm on July 19, witnesses reported hearing loud noises and then saw two vehicles on fire behind a residence. RCMP and EMS responded, and the fires were put out without damaging nearby residences or other vehicles. The vehicles lit on fire were a 1997 Dodge Caravan and a 1999 Dodge Ram.
Witnesses saw a red truck leaving the area at a high rate of speed, and were able to identify the last four numbers of its Alberta license plate as: 9979. No one was injured, and RCMP continue to investigate.

On July 21st, 2014 at 850 pm, Cochrane RCMP were dispatched to a motorcycle collision on Old Banff Coach Road, near Shantara Grove. east of Cochrane in the Springbank Area. The male driver and lone occupant of the motor cycle left the roadway and entered the south ditch on a curve. The male, a 22 year old Calgary man was taken by ambulance to hospital in Calgary with non life threatening injures.
Speed and alcohol were not a factor in the collision. No charges are being laid.

Property damage in Fort Macleod
On July 2, 2014, the Fort Macleod RCMP received complaint of a damaged fence on 4th Avenue between 10th and 11th Street. The fence was driven into with a motor vehicle causing extensive damage to the fence then fled the scene.
The RCMP is investigating these incidents as a mischief and is seeking public assistance in identifying any suspects. Pedestrian seriously injured in Carstairs
On Sunday July 20, 2014 at 2:29 am Didsbury RCMP, Carstairs Fire and Provincial EMS were dispatched to a Pedestrian Motor Vehicle Collision on 10th Avenue in Carstairs, Alberta , just south of Idaho Street.
A 26 year old Crossfield man had been walking southbound down 10th Avenue, in the middle of the northbound lane. 10th Avenue is an undivided 2 lane road. A 30 year old Carstairs woman had been driving her small passenger car northbound on 10 Ave in the northbound lane. The driver of the car saw the pedestrian walking towards her in her lane at the last second, took evasive action and struck the man with the front passenger side corner and hood of her car. The force of the collision threw the man several meters north east into the east ditch along 10th Avenue.
CPR was performed on the pedestrian by both witnesses and Emergency Services. The man was transported by STARS Air Ambulance with severe head trauma and other injuries to the Foothills Hospital in Calgary.
It was a dark over cast night, having just rained, visibility was poor. The pedestrian was not wearing reflective clothing. The pedestrian had been observed by Witnesses to be intoxicated. Neither speed nor alcohol were not contributing factors for the Driver.
RCMP are continuing their investigation. Provincial charges are being considered, but are pending the outcome their investigation.
Classic Corvette stolen in Calgary
The Calgary Police Service is seeking public assistance in locating a classic car stolen from its elderly and longtime owner.
Sometime between 7 p.m., on Saturday, July 12, 2014, and 5 p.m., on Sunday, July 13, 2014, the red, 1962 Chevrolet Corvette convertible was taken from its parking space in the 9600 block of Bonaventure Drive S.E.
The two-door vintage automobile’s owner is 73 years old, and it has been in his possession for more than 40 years.
The vehicle was parked in the outdoor lot and was covered by a tarp. As well as being locked, the owner used a padlock to deter thieves. In this case, the padlock was cut off and left behind. It has been seized by investigators.
The vehicle has a blacktop convertible roof and red interior. It does not have license plates. Photos of the stolen vehicle are available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.
Due to the rarity of the vehicle, investigators are asking the public to keep an eye out for the car. No charges in fatal Calgary pedestrian collision
The Calgary Police Service has concluded its investigation into a fatal pedestrian incident over the weekend and no charges will be laid.
Emergency crews were called to the 100 block of Saddlecrest Green N.E., around 11 p.m., for a report of a man in distress. The victim had reportedly been hit by a car, however, further investigation determined the man fell off the hood of the car after jumping on it.
It’s believed the victim threw himself on the hood of the car in an attempt to stop the driver from leaving a residence. He fell off and struck his head on the pavement, sustaining critical injuries. He died overnight.
As the driver in this case did not cause the incident, no charges will be laid. The victim and the driver are known to each other. Drugs and alcohol are not believed factors.
EPS Vice Section arrests 15
The Edmonton Police Service Vice Section conducted a two-night operation last week that resulted in a total of 15 individuals being arrested and 12 vehicles seized.
On July 16 and 17, 2014, EPS Vice Section detectives with the assistance of EPS Downtown Division and Northeast Division Neighbourhood Foot Patrol officers, conducted undercover operations in areas where there were community complaints regarding individuals driving around soliciting sex.
On Wednesday, July 16, 2014, EPS laid nine charges under the Criminal Code Section 213 (1)(c) communicate in public, two charges for breach of probation, two drug-related charges, and executed one immigration warrant. One of the accused was on a day-pass from Alberta Hospital and was returned to the facility. A total of six vehicles were seized that day. On Thursday, July 17, 2014, there were six charges for communicate in public, and six vehicles were seized.
“Typically with the warmer summer weather there are more people out cruising neighbourhoods for sex,” says Acting Staff Sergeant David Schening with the EPS Vice Section. “We know that this kind of traffic creates concerns regarding safety, crime and disorder in the community. Police will continue to focus enforcement on those who exploit the vulnerable, and will be out there with our community partners to offer support and exit strategies to sex workers as appropriate.”
Edmonton family asks for return of memorial necklace
The Edmonton Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in the search for a necklace that holds the final remains of a young boy who was tragically killed in a plane crash last year.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, in his late teens or early twenties, with blonde, curly hair. He was seen wearing red and white shorts.
The necklace taken from the vehicle holds the ashes of Dawson Pentecost, a 9-year-old boy who passed away in a plane crash in Manitoba on Feb. 10, 2013. The necklace is a cremation pendant, which contains the boy’s final remains in a gold and silver cross with five crystals, and hangs on a silver chain. The cross is approximately 4 cm in height and 2 cm in width. Dawson’s parents, David and Crystal Pentecost, moved to Edmonton just two weeks ago and are devastated over the incident.
“It’s very likely that the thief had no idea about the tremendous sentimental value of this piece of jewelry,” says Const. Michael Roblin of Downtown Division. “The EPS asks the public to keep an eye out for this keepsake necklace and anyone with information about the incident is asked to come forward. It is our hope the necklace will be recovered and returned to its rightful owners, even if it is turned in anonymously.”

Debit machine stolen from Airdrie hotel
The Airdrie RCMP is seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect in relation to a theft of debit machine investigation.
On June 14th, a male entered the Ramada Hotel in Airdrie and removed the debit machine. Surveillance video was provided and a screen capture of the suspect was provided.

On Monday, July 21, 2014, shortly after midnight, Wood Buffalo RCMP received a call of a group of people fighting outside of a residence on Gregoire Lake Reserve.
Upon police arrival, 1 victim was located lying on the side of the road, severely beaten and unconscious. A second victim was identified and located at a nearby residence. Both victims were taken to hospital, where later the unconscious male was flown to Edmonton. 2 suspects were located shortly thereafter and arrested.
Travis Cree (31) of Gregoire Lake Reserve and Jesse Deranger (20) of Fort McMurray have both been charged in this matter. Cree has been charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. Deranger has been charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault and failing to comply with his conditions.
Deranger remains in custody and Cree has since been released. Both are to appear in court on July 28, 2014.

Spruce Grove traffic stop leads to violent foot chase
Early in the afternoon on July 21st, RCMP in Spruce Grove approached a vehicle parked near a convenience store on Calahoo road, believing that a male passenger had warrants for his arrest.
The man exited the vehicle and ran from police, despite being told repeatedly to stop. The foot chase crossed Highway 16-A twice, with police in pursuit.
At one point, two civilians attempted to assist police in apprehending this man. The suspect threatened to stab the first bystander, a woman from Edmonton.
Next, he threatened to stab a male bystander, pulling out a knife as he did so. Both civilians retreated and the suspect continued running. He jumped into the original vehicle, which drove off, and police apprehended the vehicle quickly.
The suspect was arrested with two bags of what is believed to be cocaine. The first was a large bag, and the second had several small "spit-balls", known to be a format utilized for selling.
24 year old Richard Gary Pariseau, of Wetaskiwin, is facing the following charges:
- possession for the purpose of trafficking in a Schedule II substance (cocaine)
- resist arrest
- assault with a weapon (knife)
- uttering threats x 2
- He also had four outstanding warrants, which were executed at the time of his arrest.
Pariseau has been remanded into custody, with his next court appearance being Wednesday, July 23rd in Stony Plain.
The female driver of the vehicle, 27 year old Dezarae Kazonay, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in a Schedule II substance (cocaine). She was released from custody and will appear in Stony Plain Court on August 20th.
"We are really fortunate that no one was injured during this violent incident", states Cpl. Colette Zazulak of the Spruce Grove/Stony Plain RCMP. "The relationship between drug trafficking and violence is well established, and in this instance the safety of two community members who happened to be in the area was jeopardized. Police are pleased to have Richard Pariseau off the streets".

No one appeared to be in the truck. Following their police instinct and drawing from their years of police experience, the officers decided to investigate further. Checks on the truck revealed that it had been reported stolen out of Edmonton. Both Edmonton Police Service and the owner were notified of the recovery of the truck and St-Albert RCMP general duties officers secured the vehicle to be returned to the owner. This investigation is ongoing.
The RCMP police cart has been utilized in St-Albert since 2009 and allows the RCMP to access the trails and green spaces in St-Albert. Traditionally the police bikes have been used in these areas but the cart allows more officers to be present on the trails.
