Cougar Car Wash in Pincher Creek was broken into on Sunday, June 29 at approximately 1:30 am. Dan Crawford says this is the first time he has suffered a break in during the six and a half years he has owned Cougar (and Sudsy's, another Crawford-owned car wash in Pincher Creek).
The thief broke into three coin box machines, causing an estimated $3,000 - $5,000 dollars in damage, and "Hours to fix it," according to Crawford. "It takes profit away, I get to fix the stuff that some yahoo broke." For him it has been a stressful incident. In addition to the financial impact of loss of income and broken machinery "This takes time away from my family and community." Despite the big financial impact to his business, Crawford said that the thief only got a few hundred dollars in cash.
Local RCMP were notified, took fingerprints, and have surveillance footage of the perpetrator in action. If you have more information about this or any other crime you can contact Pincher Creek RCMP at 403-627-6000 or call the Crime Stoppers TIPS line at 1-800-222-8477.
