Antivirus software and you

Dan Stumborg, Pincher Creek Computers

So you have Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8, and you want to find the absolute best anti-virus software for your machine. There are literally endless possibilities, but the choice is actually quite simple.

Get something that works, and is free. Those are literally the only stipulations that you need to follow (unless you're a business with a lot of confidential data, and then you should maybe have a consultation with your network administrator. If you don't have one, you can probably do with free anti-virus software).

For Windows XP, Vista or 7 users, simply get Microsoft Security Essentials since it's from Microsoft, made for Windows, and is free for legitimate Windows owners.

If you don't want Security Essentials, just get AVG Free as it works great too.

Windows 8 users can add AVG Free, but Microsoft Security Essentials already runs in the background, so there's no need for anything.

You can opt to pay for AVG if you like, or go with one of the bigger names (Norton, McAffee, etc..) but it is unneeded, and you can still get viruses with the best of the best.

Like always, let me know if you have any questions, and I'll answer you back as quick as I can. Thanks.
