| Dust Devil Chase makes it home |

Pincher Creek's Junior Dust Devils hosted Fernie for a playoff game at Sproule Field on a soggy Saturday June 14. Devils Coach Bryan Mackenzie was concerned about their chances before the game. "I'm out of pitchers, I burnt them out last night," said Mackenzie, who jokingly told me that I could warm up. "We lost a tough one last night in Cardston by one run, and they (Fernie) play Cardston this afternoon here." Mackenzie may have been a little early in that assessment, as the Devils won the game by a wide margin. Unfortunately, not wide enough for the Devils to continue on to the next level of playoffs once all the stats were calculated.

"This is our last home game, our playoffs started last night," said Pincher Creek Minor Baseball President Carrah Pinder-Walter before the game. "We lost to Cardston, so we will have to beat Fernie well today. Fernie plays Cardston after this in a playoff game, then the winner of that (with runs for and against I guess,) advances into Lethbridge on Monday in the playoff round. This weekend the other four teams in our pool are playing in Lethbridge so somebody from here will meet the winner in Lethbridge. This is the Juniors Interlock Division.

Even though the season is now over for the Junior Dust Devils, Pinder-Walter will still be busy with baseball for a while as she is one of the main organizers for the sport in the upcoming Southern Alberta Summer Games. "We are looking forward to it. There is lots of teams, more teams than I expected. We have 7 Minor teams, 5 Major teams, and 3 Junior teams. We will have a lot of baseball, it's good to see. It will be all day baseball for two days. It will be exciting."
