Flags are at half mast in Pincher Creek to show respect for the sacrifice of the three RCMP officers murdered while defending the law in Moncton, New Brunswick last week. Two other RCMP officers were also injured by the perpetrator.

The funeral will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the Moncton Coliseum, 377 Killam Drive, in Moncton, NB. A parade of RCMP employees and law enforcement from across Canada will take place before the funeral. While members of the public will be able to attend the regimental funeral, seating in the coliseum is limited.
Messages of condolences for the three members can be sent to:condolences_condoleances@rcmp-grc.gc.ca. The RCMP New Brunswick has also set up condolence books at several locations across the province including at every RCMP detachment with a visitor counter area and at various city halls.
The RCMP Foundation has set up the Moncton Fallen RCMP Members Memorial Fund in their memory. This is the only website where donations will be accepted.

Cst. Fabrice Georges Gevaudan
Reg# 55685 – Cst. Fabrice Georges Gevaudan, 45, was born in Boulogne-Billancourt, France and joined the RCMP at Regina, Saskatchewan, after receiving his Canadian citizenship. Upon graduation from the RCMP Training Academy “Depot” on February 11, 2008, Cst. Gevaudan was posted to “J Division”, New Brunswick, namely at the Codiac Detachment where he worked in General Duty Policing.
Cst. Dave Joseph Ross
Reg# 54868 - Cst. Dave Joseph Ross, 32, from Victoriaville, Quebec, joined the RCMP at Ottawa, Ontario. Upon graduation from the RCMP Training Academy “Depot” on July 9, 2007, Cst. Ross was posted to “J Division”, New Brunswick, namely at the Codiac Detachment where he worked in General Duty Policing and, most recently, as a Police Dog Services Handler.
Cst. Douglas James Larche
Reg # 49269 – Cst Douglas James Larche, 40, from Saint John, New Brunswick, joined the RCMP at Moncton, New Brunswick. Upon graduation from the RCMP Training Academy “Depot” on February 4, 2002, Cst. Larche was posted to “J Division”, New Brunswick, including Doaktown and more recently, Codiac Detachment. He worked in Highway Patrol and General Duty Policing and was an investigator with the Codiac General Investigation Section/Major Crime Unit. In 2008, Cst. Larche received a Commander’s Commendation for saving the life of an unconscious baby in Moncton.

Fatal MVC on Highway 13 near Daysland
On June 7, 2104 at 0650 hrs the Killam RCMP were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover collision on Highway 13 just west of Daysland. Various Flagstaff County Fire and EMS units attended to the scene.
Investigation has revealed that a 2007 Chrysler Sebring was travelling east on Highway 13 when the driver lost control and entered the south ditch. The vehicle hit an approach and as a result rolled. When emergency crews arrived on scene they located the vehicle upside down on its roof and a 20 year male was trapped inside of the car.
STARS attended and transported the male to the U of A in Edmonton were he succumbed to his injuries later on in the day.
The deceased is a 20 year male from Edmonton and his name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
A 22-year-old male fell out of a moving vehicle on the morning of June 5, 2014. At approximately 4 am that day the male was taken to hospital with life-threatening head injuries. Investigation determined that he had been riding in the box of a pickup truck in the area of 9 Avenue and 5 Street South, when he fell out and struck his head. The 19-year-old female driver of the truck transported the male to hospital but left prior to police arrival. The male was subsequently transferred to Calgary Foothills Hospital and is currently in critical condition.
Police have charged Venessa Lilian Francis, 19, of Lethbridge, with dangerous driving causing bodily harm. She is scheduled to appear in court June 16. At this time, there is no update on the injured male’s condition. Investigation has determined drugs and alcohol were a factor in this incident.
Armed Robbery in Daysland
On June 5, 2014 at 1250 hrs the Killam RCMP responded to an armed robbery complaint at the Daysland Auto and Farm Supply store.
Investigation has revealed that a lone male entered the store during the lunch hour and snuck behind the customer service desk. Once behind the customer service desk the male located and emptied out the cash drawer. The male then allegedly jumped the lone store clerk and threw them to the ground. The male then grabbed their arm and pulled them up to their knees and put a knife to their side. The male proceeded to demand more cash. When the male was advised that there was no more cash he threw the staff member to the ground again and took off on foot.
The male suspect was described as being abut 5'10" in height, wearing blue jeans and runners.
Police are still vigorously investigating the details of this event and are seeking public assistance. Anyone that may have witness this event is asked to contact the Killam RCMP at (780)385-3509 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS)
Pedestrian struck by car in Red Deer
On June 6th, 2014 at approximately 3:30 pm, Red Deer City RCMP responded to a collision at the intersection of 67 street and 58 avenue in Red Deer. A pedestrian was attempting to cross 67 street when she was struck by a Mazda car that was east bound. The pedestrian, an 18 years old female suffered critical injuries and was transported to Red Deer Hospital by EMS. She was subsequently air lifted by STARS air ambulance to U of A hospital where she is currently in critical but stable condition.
The driver of the car is a 19 year old female, her name is not being released at this time pending investigation. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in this collision. The cause of the collision is currently under investigation by Red Deer City Traffic Services.
